The folks who construct church buildings always give this warning: If your preacher doesn't give interesting and enthusiastic sermons, you are wasting your money and time thinking a new church will help your membership.

Is your question wether small groups are more effective to bring people to church than sermons?
I think small groups are great because there's a real relationship.
belong > believe
However, there are some preachers who have great sermons, that make people interested in going to church.
I hope many good speakers will stand up!

In my 37 yrs. as a Christian, I have never joined anything or church, Yes I am a memeber of a Church for 33 yrs. But I did not join, I did not sign any books, We have no memebership books. Because we already know that there is only one book that we are concern about & that is the book of life. Which my name was put there before the foundation of the world.

I was saved and brought into the church by the preaching of God's Word. The scriptures call this the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

I took a Christian witnessing class in college and my teacher had compiled 20 years of stats that he used. he showed us that 93% of the people in his study joined from one on one witnessing. schools, evangelistic crusades and family ties were all considered. but the greatest method was the one JESUS used the most.
