Can someone help with an oil pressure problem in a 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7 liter engine?

I've been driving my jeep for a few weeks and when I come to a stop the oil pressure will drop and the check guages light comes on. When I hit the gas it goes right back to normal. It is an intermittent problem? I've had it to a few mechanics and they can't find the problem. The oil pressure reads good when their. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check the oil viscosity chart in the owners manual change the oil install a new oil filter. Some time energy saving oil like 5/30 wt is a little to thin in the summer time. I reccomend syenthic oil 10/40 or a 20/50 if you live in the desert or Texas Like Me. Hot Hot Hot Good luck change oil often much cheeper than engine repair.

If you're sure that you're running the right type and amount of oil, and the shop has put an external gauge on it that indicates you have good pressure then you might want to try replacing the oil pressure sending unit. The problem you describe is wide spread among the Jeep Wrangler TJs, replacing the sending unit fixes it. I have never heard of this happening on the bigger Jeeps, but it wouldn't surprise me. You can get the part Pep Boys or Autozone. On the 4.0 its a very simple job - only 2 screws to take out and replace- probably not much different on the 4.7.

Bad Sensor or bad wire connection, Start by cleaning the connection on the sending unit if possible and check for broken or corroded wire. The pickup will have to be bought from the dealer, depending on the location you may or may not have to drain the oil

you are talking about a chrysler here. Well any way, untill and unless it dies on you, or you can feel the engine acting up on you, dont worry about it. If its running, just keep it running.
