I have a party to attend that is being put on by my boss for myself, 2 other co-workers and our families and I have no idea of what to bring.

Although wine is the norm, I don't think it would suit the situation as I am not exactly sure who drinks or what type of alcohol they drink..

The theme is luau. What would be a nice practicle gift to bring the host as a thank you?

A tropical plant, maybe something with a Bird of Paradise in it.

How about a nice flower arrangement? I was originally thinking about something with wine or another alcoholic beverage, but when I saw it was your boss having the party, I decided that might be a bad idea.

I had also considered bringing some sort of food for the party, but that made it seem too much like a church covered dish dinner.

I decided on a nice cut flower arrangement. This is summer time, and it should be easy to put together a nice flower arrangement that will make everybody happy.

Some more thoughts about the flowers (which should be suitably tropical): you might consult with the hosts on their color scheme.

Some Kona coffee is another authentic Hawaiian alternative to wine.

A fruit basket with tropical fruits, a selection of coffees, or coffee beans. A bottle of rum, nice stuff. A box of coconut chocolate covered candies, a pineapple.

Take a watermelon and carve it out and ball up the watermelon. Also ball up a cantaloupe and honeydew and slice up some pineapple and soak it in some liquor. Then put all the balls back into the watermelon and enjoy.
