but it uses vast's amount of electric so i carn't afford to use it

Yep, a heat pump is just a fancy air conditioner. It's cost you a fortune to run and they're usually just used for backup kind of applications or in areas where heating/cooling are not required very often. Solar is the same scam. It only works well in sunny areas (Vermont in January is out) and costs about $50,000 to install. Everyone praises the benefits but never looks at the reality of it. Sorry you had to install before you found out.

Yes electricity has gone up a lot. My son put in a lpg heater in his basement and adjust the central air as a backup . Set the lpg at what u want your temp. to be and set your heat pump about 6 deg below that.
