Anytime religious zealotry is thrown into the equation you can be certain any conflict will be a long and bloody one.In our (U.S.) own Civil War both the Confederacy and Union claimed "god is on our side".When asked about this President Lincoln smiled and replied "Well, both of us MAY be,but one of us HAS to be wrong".Regrettably no one on either side of this fight shares Lincoln's quick wit and common sense.

That depends on what you mean by end. We've already taken control of the country and set up a new government. There may always be violence in Iraq. But there is violent crime in America too, after hundreds of years of law enforcement. Hopefully in a year or two we'll have trained enough Iraqi army forces that we'll be able to withdraw most of our forces, and let them take over.

If you recall, immediately after 9/11, when President Bush had nearly a 95% approval rating, he told us all that this would not be a quick war. This was going to be a long war. Of course, the liberal democrats find that anything longer than 15 minutes (their average attention span) is just too long, so they begin bitching. Listen to the crap Pelosi and Reid put out. They are both traitors to the United States and everything it stands for. They want to surrender to Al Quaida.

I'm afraid not! What is gong on in Iraq; is sectarian civil warfare and since we provided the groundwork , we have to take responsibility for the consequences which is a pretty much destroyed country.
Our war against terrorism will continue, but, we have an obligation to at least rebuild Iraqs infrastructure. I just hope we can provide a safe haven for the innocent men, women and children who just want to have a normal life.
Thanks

You have to realize the war in Iraq is not with Iraq. I t is a war against Fundamentalist Extremist Muslims. They are all over, not just in Iraq. Iraq has become a lightning rod for them to come to, but when that is done, there will always be another place and time. They will attack us here again. Depending on where they are from amd who is letting them set up camps as to where it will happen next time. Until there are no more places for them to set up their camps and train. It will be a long war, being fought over decades.

I am afraid that you may be correct. The particular conflict in Iraq perhaps. The one against radical Islam jihadists almost certainly.

no. unless it is fought in the way it should be in order to win quickly that is...in other words, if we fought the terrorists the way we fought the nazi's, this 'war' would be over now.
