was this war decided by 2 missiles - the revised frontal attack US Sidewinder Air - Air and the French Exorcett Air to Ship?

Ok - the ground attack was a credit to the Marines and the Para's. BUT - the revised sidewinder kill rate was 80% (no more dog fight - just push the button, watch it explode in front of you). Surely there would be no ground assault if a couple more exorcet's hit troop carriers or HMS Invicible.

satrapa - The Argentine government were criminally irresponsible for sending 18 year olds, without proper clothing, to invade the Falklands, it was not the fault of the British. There was no massacre, the British forces beat the Argentines, who then surrendered and were returned home. The Falklands were unpopulated islands in international waters when settled by people form Britain. At that time the state of Argentina hadn't been established, and that area was invaded and occupied by people from Spain who proceeded to slaughter the local peoples

It's very hard for missiles to hit a carrier seeing as it is surrounded by a Combat Air patrol, air defence destroyers and has its own Close In Weapons System (Goalkeeper) that is more than capable of engaging multiple incoming missiles.

the problem for the british in this war was and is reason why so meany british ships were hit is around the time the cold war was still going and most of the british fleet was built for ainte submarine duty and not air defence if the war were today we would have won much easier because since the end of the cold war are navy has been restruckcherd for air defence .

You need to read The Battle For The Falklands by Max Hastings. It was decided by two things, you are right as far as that goes. It was decided by PM Margaret Thatcher deciding that the UK WILL defend the Falklands, and the Royal Marines living up to the long tradition of the Royal Marines.

No it was decided by the poor blighters who walked from one end to the other that is the poor bloody infantry. Without the others it would not have been possible. I do not seek to understate the contribution in blood and frankly guts of the Royal Navy or the Royal Air Force

The British were given the codes to the Exocets by the French government. The damage the Exocets did was caused, not by the warhead, but, because they were fired too close to the targets, they had not expended their propellant, which ignited on impact.

HELLO!!! the ground attack was a credit to the marines and the paras!!!! my dad was in neither, he served with the 2nd battalion scots guards and was ordered to fix bayonets and 'take' mt. tumbledown, which they did! out numbered and from a typically weak vantage point!!
it upsets him and the other guards that their efforts are largely forgotten or played down, just because they didn't have a 'yomp', which by all accounts is just a standard 'tab'.

Holla penarol!!

blame your own forces, your quartermasters corps had stores full of equipment but refused to give it out to the conscripts.

The British found huge amounts of military supplies including food and clothing in warehouses in Port Stanly that your own officers refused to allowed to be issued to the poor freezing conscripts in the hills.

If anything the poor moral was caused by the supieror attitude of your officer class.

And "gerbo" the British managed to kick nazi ss *** in WW2 and we won then so your argument is stupid.

The fact is that so many Argertinian bombs hit their target and failed to explode but the British overcame the loss of Chinooks.
