I logged in to answer some good questions and read some interesting points of view. However, I am hard pressed to find anything worth reading or responding to!! Every second question or post is from a Christian bashing an atheist or an atheist stirring up or insulting the Christians.
Is it just me, or has it got a lot more immature around here lately?
BTW, I'm not attacking freedom of speech, just the immaturity!

I am an atheist...I am not religious, but I am interested in spirituality which is a separate thing. I dont 'bash' Christians in this forum.

Its not the beer, and the wine just keeps getting better. I use to look at this forum as really important, a chance to talk to the world, or at least the english speaking portion about faith, no holds barred but now its mostly smarmy; "Lets see who we can insult." type stuff. For most of the questions, I just picture somebody waiting to see who is going to be stupid enough to give this question any respect.
But if you look long enough there is something worth replying to and that is still satisfying. Hopefully the stirrers will get bored with their facile remarks and smart A** questions, then maybe they will try to add value rather than cheapen what we have here.

No you are not whining and yes you are correct regarding the very immature behavior on this forum, many people actually do receive help here when the forum is used for it`s proper purpose and we know that there are many who see this place as a helpline in times of difficulty.
There will alway`s be immature idiots to spoil things and they contribute nothing of worth here, this forum is not for people to vent their rage and anger at others, if this forum is to remain of worth then this has to be dealt with in some way.

There is a paradox right here is not there: The scholars who organised the controversy best desired a danger to demolish Nick, David and the BNP in open debate. They did this by means of inviting Nick and David brazenly and truthfully to a debate on unfastened speech which as It grew to become out all have been in contract on besides. It gave all a danger to be trained from every different. I feel the ones scholars that orchestrated the controversy will have to be counseled. But then we have now: The military of pupil thugs organised by means of the pupil SWP and different left wing activists who brazenly attempted to crash the assembly to wreck unfastened speech taking position. I believe the message is for those who talk out on some thing we dislike we will be able to quit you. They generally could no longer comprehend what David(considered one of our main Historians) is honestly pronouncing. David is entirely conscious of what it method to visit jail considering the fact that his study does no longer meet the necessities of the politically proper. Are we rather heading right into a society in which if we do not agree (as in David's case) we will be able to pass to jail ( as is the case in Austria and France). Lets face it the BNP dedicated to unfastened speech most likely does not look this type of dangerous guess in spite of everything does it? ATB Red

Unfortunately, that is exactly what is happening. I try to respond as respectfully as possible, but so many of these questions are designed to just provoke people. The posters generally aren't looking for an answer, they're just looking for the newest way to provoke someone. However, at the same time, it can be enlightening to see how some people view different things. Before I came on here, I didn't realize how intolerant people can be, but that's become very obvious from this.

No, I think it has always attracted a pretty fair number of the immature.
Many people sincerely believe that it is their duty to convert others to their belief. They have seen the light, and they feel obligated to share it with you. Those who believe in a horrible description of hell, and that you are going to be subjected to this torture for eternity if you do not get with the program, are probably sincere in their concern for your welfare. That you do not believe in the evidence they present (and they don't always present evidence, after all) only causes them to redouble their efforts. You SHOULD believe, in their view, and they act accordingly.
The ones that amaze me are those that go bashing other people for what they believe, not realizing that they are doing their own position no good by being rude and insulting.

Yes, probably so.
Unfortunately, after the few basic questions have been beaten to death [repeatedly at that] one would have to go deeper into belief, faith, and knowledge to have meaningful discussions and most are not willing to do so.
So ask a better question like the one you expected to answer!
Maybe I'll ask a question about the mystic poet Rumi and the Sufis.

I know what you mean. One thing I have noticed though, there has been a decrease in trolling since the block feature arrived, guess they got the message. I am still able to find some interesting questions and answers, but I usually have to go through a few categories to do it. If stuck, sometimes I just go answer a few fun ones.

i agree. rationally, religion has been argued over to the point of exhaustion on this forum, and obviously you're not going to back down from the faith that governs your life. so they resort to straight up bashing. i think its natural on the part of atheists, and hardcore christians unknowingly do it. its a somewhat accurate comparison to the world we live in today. look at all the wars over religion? look how irrational its getting people are desensitized and blowing themselves up-as of late a pregnant woman and her neice were suicide bombers. understanding, courtesy, and respect would help...

I think people are running out of intelligent questions to ask, so they resort to what you describe. It takes more thought to think up a good question and well thought out answers, than it does to respond emotionally and defensively with a childish remark.
