Since Sony TVs suffer component failure so rarely then it might be a good idea to examine the soldered joints on the audio chip and resolder them if possible ! . Not a difficult job if you have aptitude and possibly access to a small soldering iron . If not then the wise course is to call a TV Tech to give you an estimate for the repair.

Most of the time, the speakers have been turned off or the Main/SAP setting has been set to SAP in the TV's Audio Menu.....

If that's not the case, then the Audio Amp or the Audio Amp's fuse has gone bad.
And those generally just don't go bad unless you are connecting MORE than one speaker to each connection OR your speakers are also connected to another amplifier....That will blow your TV amp each and every time.....

make sure you check the menu settings, I've turned my sound off before.

also, check your headphone jack to see if it still works

also, try the different output jacks. RCA, HDMI, etc. Sometimes. one of them will work.

Orrrrrr! THis might be your chance to start reading lips. Just turn on the sub-text!!!
