It depends on how spicy. As with everything else, moderation is the key. Anything that irritates your insides, means it's doing you no good. If you are eating food spicy enough to be at these levels a.k.a. the "ring of fire" then you are going to be interfering with nutrient uptake and digestion, which will be more of a chronic than acute problem. If you do something like eat 15 habaneros, you're going to injure your insides, essentially a chemical burn on your innards. Who needs that?

actually higher amounts of Capsicum which is what creates the heat of a chili pepper have been tested and are known for reducing cancer risks and also for retarding cancer already within the patient... of course at the same time over amounts of heat can cause stomach lining issues within some people and every one has a different heat tolerance also the hotter the food usually comes with acid in the food which can cause other problems so there is a plus and a minus to every thing

It has bad effect on mucosa of stomach/duodenum. I think person's nature also is affected by spicy food, becomes sort of aggressive. No tolerance. It could be OK once in a while, not daily.

it sort of depends. if you eat spicy food every now and then, and it's not OVERLY spicy, then I guess you're ok. but eating too much for a fact destroys your taste buds. i have a friend, his uncle used to eat red peppers like they were candy, and he would have them with like every other meal. after years and years and years of doing that, he reached a point where he couldn't taste things as well as he used to. in my opinion that SUCKS!!! imagine not being able to taste chocolate!! :O

i dont think it does, if anything, it can help you if you have a slow metabolism. spicy foods speed up your metabolism. i have heard they weaken your taste buds to mild spicyness, but i dont know if thats true.
