Hey guys, I just dyed my hair earlier this week. It's a dark reddish-brown. I waited a few days until I went out in the sun and I wore a white cap. Afterwards, I found red spots from the dye on the hat. My questions are:

1) How long should I wait after dying my hair to be out in the sun and not worry about my hair color staining anything?

2) What products would you recommend to use when out in the sun to protect my color? Any specific brand of conditioners?

I appreciate any answers I receive! Thank you!

If you're using semi-permanent color - it's pretty much gonna be an issue for 4-6 weeks. Semi-permanent washes out over time.

If you've used a permanent hair dye - this shouldn't be happening.

As for protecting your hair from the sun - red is the most prone to oxidation so you will always need to apply a sunscreen designed for protecting hair (e.g. Redken) &/or a hat.
