You lost a loved one (sister) to HIV, and when at work hear people crack HIV/AIDS jokes. I hear that and I just want to punch them in the face.

i do not think AIDS jokes or cancer jokes or jokes of that nature are very funny at all.
i think you need to confront them, tell them this is a work environment and they need to be more careful what they joke about in the presence of others.

They are being insensitive because they don't know about your situation. Calmly explain to them that their jokes make you uncomfortable because you just lost your sister to HIV. I guarantee that this will make them feel so bad and ignorant; their jokes will stop before you know it. Hope you are okay...

for sure there are some rude, mean people in the world. you cant punch out all of them. i might go over to them and say " has any of you watched someone die from hiv ? it's a terrible thing to watch and its not funny at all and only an idiot would think so !

Well don't punch them at work, take them outside and punch them! HIV/AIDS is NOTHING to joke about! For all they know, they might have it!

I am SO sorry for the loss of your sister. It must suck really bad to hear people joke about it. I would seriously consider telling them about your loss. I would bet most of them would be absolutely horrified and embarrassed that they had made a joke about something so terrible.

well i'm sorri, but i can't give you a mature answer...becuz i would punch them in face....that's just as bad, as making fun of a person's race, and not knowing that a person of that race is in the room.
or you could just enlighten them about HIV/AIDS and see who thinks its that funni afterwards.

I'd quit being so sensitive. They obviously don't know about your sister and even if they do, they are not talking about her directly.
