Become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT, paramedic).

You're helping people & saving lives, without the cost and time involved in medical school.

hi... I really empathise with you. I'm in exactly the same position you are - med school rejected me, and schools overseas are too bloody expensive at this moment in time. Lots of people told me to go into nursing and such as well, as I see some others here have done, but it didn't appeal to me - I want to be involved in the decision making process with regards to treatment, surgery and everything else related to being a doctor.

Working on the assumption that you've got the same issues I do - I'd suggest doing something else you have an interest in first. Teaching, law, what have you. Work hard. Make some money, and go to med school - grad school, in some countries. There are cheaper options - china's fudan university, for instance. If medicine is something you're passionate about, and if, after a couple of years working as something else, you still feel strongly about it, this is a good option, I think. It's what I'm planning anyway - am of the opinion that life is too bloody short to not strive for exactly what you want. There are schools aplenty around the world - apply to those that are reasonably good and you'll probably get accepted to something; you get to do what you want to. Eventually.

To temper that with a good dose of reality though - make sure this is what you want. Be amenable to the fact that the plan might not pan out, and also that your wants and dreams may change as well. There's a great likelihood of there simply not being enough money, unfortunately.

If you can't get into med school as far as being a doctor (MD), but have some sort of medical courses behind you (psychology, biology, chemistry, etc), you can do anything you choose to do. Psychologists are considered part of the medical field even though they don't have the training a psychiatrist has. You can go into nursing. You could train to be a Physician's Assistant or Nurse Practioner, a Radiologist ( X-ray technician), work in a medical lab in clinics or hospitals, a Respiratory Therapist, a Physical Therapist. These are just a few ideas.

It depends on why you were going to med school, and why you can't go. If you don't have the aptitude, then you may want to explore other areas of your life that bring you joy and consider ways to earn income doing them. If you are under budget for med school, then you may want to ask for grants, loans, benefactors? If you just wanted to work in the health field because you enjoy the science of biology, then you could pursue another occupation in that field. If you just really like to help people, you may consider home health care as a nurse, or becoming a patient advocate. There are so many things you can do in this country. There are people out there whom will pay for anything, you just have to be creative sometimes. Hope this helped. Good Luck.

Why can't you go? What's stopping you? It's never too late... You could go to nursing school or any number of training programs for other postions within a hospital...Go be a dentist or a vet then...The sky's the limit...
