If there was proof of God then everyone would believe in him. There would be no free will to make a choice. You either take the leap of faith or you don't. You will only know the answer to your question after it's too late to do anything about it.

This is a hard question to answer. These days if you ask 100 people that same question, you would probably get 200 hundred different answers. To some, it depends what has happen in there lives.
I, myself, was the same way.
I would ask the same the question all the time, up until this past weekend. I prayed for something personal for over 30 years and after those many years, my prayers were answered.
Sometimes, it takes a lot of patience and self motivation to continue with the belief.
I won't lie to you, I gave up sometimes and thought there wasn't a GOD. But as I have gotten older, my wife and my kids is what keeps me praying and believing.
God will put you through somethings to test your obedience, and most of all to test your faith. You may lose someone close or something very important to you. You have to get up and continue with your life. Use your misfortunes as examples for others and yourself to learn by.
God has a mysterious power that can not be explained. But in order to believe in God, you have to have faith. You have to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you must be baptized.
Life is hard, but don't ever give up your quest to finding God.

I am going to give you one answer, just on the unlikely possibility that you are serious. I have personally struggled with this question many years ago. You will have to struggle with it, also, but there is information that will give you some background on the subject. Related questions to ask yourself, and to research, include: "What, exactly, do I and others mean by 'God'?" "What is the relationship between God and religion?" "Am I looking for an objective (as nearly as possible) answer, or am I looking for affirmation of my religious upbringing?" You have a lot of reading and thinking to do, but the journey toward knowledge will be very interesting if you decide to undertake it. I will list a few books in the "sources" section.

In a book you can read of God. By listening to others you can hear of God. By saying there is a God you can have faith in a God. But truly Know of God takes great practice. You most put aside all that you read, heard, or said. Then in the quietness go within yourself and see what truths are left. This is not easy but well worth the journey. That which you find within yourself is in all. When you can see that which is in you in everything at every moment, then my Friend you know God.

Were you raised knowing G-d? I was, in a way... but I wanted more of G-d in my life. I think that is kind of simular to wanting to know there is a G-d, because one is wanting to go deeper with G-d and the other is just wanting G-d. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you want (the Creator) G-d in your life. Do you want G-d in your life? If so, then don't worry so much about whether or not there is one. Just act like there is and then see what comes. Listen to praise and worship tapes or cds maybe, on your own.... when I found christian praise and worship music, I just knew there had to be a G-d and that is how I went deeper with Him in my life. (Later... I got into the meat of His word, but that's another story). Mostly, I'd just talk to Him, not really asking for anything very often...at least at first... just thanksgiving, love and praise. But when i did ask for something, there was always an answer, even when I had forgotten what I had asked for, it would show up and then it would remind me. Anyway, let your relationship you build with G-d be casual, like the most faithful and comfortable friendship you can imagine. Eventually, you'll be able to see G-d ("The pure in heart shall see G-d") you'll see the river of His love flowing in your heart and in your life and... I think you'll know there's a G-d then. Just give it a try!

You can't for a 100% absolute certainty, At least not while you're still alive. You are simply stuck with FAITH. Only your death will resolve the question so, simply go about your life, trying to do right by everyone that you run into. Keep to your Faith in your God. If it turns out to be ALL wrong, what harm have you done to yourself or anyone else? NONE. And in the end you will be remembered as being a person of integrity and honor. Regardless of whether there IS a God or not.

You can know there is a God by learning more about Him and obeying what your heart says is right. As your behavior comes into compliance with you're conscience, you'll be led to greater and greater light.
A primary reason for earth life is to learn how to tell the difference between truth and error. For this to happen we live in a world with competing voices and where considerable freedom exists to make both good and bad choices. This can help us to learn for ourselves what's right and what's wrong.
For example, I tell my children that lying is wrong and I hope they'll obey. They will probably better understand how important this principle is for happiness as they experience what happens when a relationship is damaged due to dishonesty.
I know we have a Heavenly Father who cares about us and will help us learn and grow.

Faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. I didn't think that up, its in the Bible. You have faith that the brakes on your car will work, faith that the sun will rise, faith that man is basically good. Tha's proof. PLUS! "by Him and thru Him all things consist." Did you know everthing is made of atoms, and those atoms only exist because of the negative and positive electorns spinning around the nucleus. That's not evolution, that's God confounding the wise with simplicity.

I would recommend searching your soul. If you are looking for answers. I will tell you of a book that is a wonderful resource to help you find God: "How to find God, Living water for those who thirst." It is NLT (new living translation) and a very good study bible..and a great start.
