The emptiness you are experiencing is a natural human need to make a positive difference upon another person's life. Most people seek to remedy this through a romantic love affair. While this may help some, the emptiness remains. Then they have children and the emptiness is forever forgotten.
When a human being has one's basic survival needs met and is healthy, then his/her brain will release a signal to benefit the species. This is the "purpose" signal. You are being called to help others in need. In our society this is usually fulfilled through raising a family or having a job.
So, unless you are planning on having children soon, get involved with acts of service. Perform random acts of kindness, join social organizations, volunteer, or something. Just get involved.

Yes, but I knew that it was probably a fleeting feeling and that before I cashed in all of my chips, I wanted to turn EVERY stone over. So, I comforted myself by indulging some of my bad habits (spending money meant for bills on books that either inspired me or made me laugh) and also signed myself up for some projects that would engage my mind and body while I searched for more answers... during that time I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and the local homeless shelter.
If nothing else, my life has been a series of short-termed adventures... just the right stuff for a novel. Or an essay...
Email me if you want some other ideas for finding some meaning in life...

Somehow we know that our purpose in life is connected to helping people. Making a difference in the world or making the world a better place are very frequently heard phrases. Volunteer at some charity and keep your focus on others and not yourself. That is the direction that leads to joy.

Everybody feels like that sometime but that doesn't mean how you are feeling is not the most important thing at this moment ! Talk to a friend or a stranger on the phone - just bouncing off your problems can lessen the load . Go on ring someone

yes not including parents no one would care if i died. the only thing in my life that i was happy about and worked hard for is now gone forever. and honestly, the prospect of living through the rest of my years feeling like a failure sounds worse than being dead. listen to my sad tale:
i just failed an orgo midterm...
where i work people think im a ditz and laugh at things i say that arent jokes...
my friends take advantage of me..
i have never had a boyfriend in my entire life..
i went through one entire summer in highschool with no friends calling me to do anything..
ive spent all night online, on a dating website . that is so sad.

Of course...everyone has from time to time.
While you are enduring those feelings they seem interminable but they really do pass. If you fell like no one needs you then go do something worthy to rebuild your self esteem. Try working at a local charity or hospital.

My life has no purpose. So What!? Who do you think I am!? I'm dragging the world with me, whether it likes it or not.
