Very important..
If you're going 81 mph in a 45 zone in georgia and you have about 10 previous tickets (all speeding) spread out over the last five years, what is probably going to happen to you??
Happened to a close friend of mine. He was arrested on the spot and spent just the night in jail. had his court date this week and was told to get a lawyer because the max sentence was a fine plus 5 yrs in jail!
No he wasn't intoxicated nor did he have a suspended license or anything else. only i think they may have tagged him for reckless drivng as well.
From the sounds of it what is his 'punishment' probably going to be (appx) mostly just worried about the jail time!!
His court date isn't till next month..
Thanks!♥

Btw.. all other tickets were relatively minor- I mean c'mon WHO gets pulled over for going 7 miles over? so yeah sadly i think it may have to do w/ his race..

In Georgia, this will probably depend on what race your friend is. :(

What can I possibly say? I always wondered what happened to that banjo-playing kid from the movie ‘Deliverance’ and now I guess I know. Apparently he’s all ‘grown up’, got himself a license, a car and now has high expectations of being one of the next Duke boys.
In every movie I’ve ever seen about the south (and especially Georgia) there is always a stereotypical big-bellied sheriff with a slightly mentally handicapped deputy (usually his son or a close cousin) and what is their prime objective when it comes to law enforcement? They hide behind billboards and set up ‘speed traps’ in order to catch unsuspecting ‘out-of-state’ people traveling through their state that failed to see the ‘ten mile per hour’ speed limit sign strategically hidden behind the overgrowth along the roadside.
Go anywhere in this country and pose the question, “what’s the first thing to pop into your head when you think about driving through Georgia?” and I’ll bet you that more than half the populations will tell you big-bellied sheriffs and speed traps.
That is the perception that television and the movies have created but the truth is perceived stereotype behavior usually develops over time from something that happens in real-life and basically, in this case it’s that Georgia is notorious for their ‘speed traps.’ I know it. The entire U.S. population knows it and yet this little fact seems to elude your friend. You’d think that because your friend actually lives in Georgia that after getting the first … say half dozen tickets he would have learned his lesson but apparently there is no magic number where it suddenly dawns on him, ‘Duh … maybe I should slow down.’
There is another perceived stereotype about Georgia and that has to do with their criminal justice system. Court is usually held out of the judge’s home or in a small court room with no air-conditioning and ends something like this;
And the judge said, “Guilty.” In a make-believe trial,
Slapped the sheriff on the back with a smile,
Said, “Supper’s waiting at home and I gotta get to it.”
In all seriousness it's obvious that this guy has a serious problem. If he's been caught eleven times that means that he is constantly speeding and using the roadways as though they were his own personal race tracks. The problem with that is one day he's going to hurt or kill some innocent people unless he's stopped. I reconstruct fatal motor vehilce accidents for a living and let me assure you that it's that kind of speed (80+ MPH) that will eventaully maim or kill someone. If he doesn't do some jail time then they should at least revoke his license before he seriously hurts someone.

fines didn't seem to deter him, has he ever had his license revoked before? Seems like even as a habitual offender, he will probably get a little jail time, pay a fine and have his license taken. Might not even get the jail time, but you never know. He doesn't seem too bright...maybe some jail time will smarten him up. Hopefully before he kills somebody by doing 81 in a 45 zone.

I know in AZ anything over 20 MPH is a felony and you will go to jail right away. If I were your friend I would get a lawyer fast.

He sounds like an idiot. Idiots like this are the reason young people have to pay exorbitant insurance rates. Georgia will take him off the roads before he kills someone. Yes, he can go to prison for this. Maybe when he gets out and if he ever gets a license again he will show more respect for the law and the lives of innocent people sharing the roadway with him.

Probably gonna take your licence away, for not being able to control your stupidness. give you a big fine, and have you pay, to go t o a buch of schools/ classes, sr-22, cost you so much money, hoping that might get your attention. next time theyll just slap you in jail, or maybe this time, w/ all the fines and classes........

Usually when u have repeat offenses for the same things over and over u are called a habitual offender, that's probably why he went to jail.

Here? His license would be suspended, plus a huge fine.
Probably not jail time, but it is an option.
