Don't listen to these people who say that it's not growing. That's just a bunch of bunk. I think what you're proposing is probably part of it, sure.
There's several factors. A couple I know off the top of my head are: (1) the sexual revolution (2) the removal of homosexuality as a mental illness in the psychology world. What I think has been the greatest contributor is the rejection of a Creator in society as a whole (Evolution taught in public schools). This has led to degradation of marriage, increase in divorce & an absence of fathers altogether & fathers as the spiritual head of the household (neglegent fathers).
Thomas E. Schmidt in his book "Straight & Narrow?: Compassion & Clarity in the Homosexual Debate" has research statistics on men caught in the homosexual lifestyle which indicate that most of them had absent, negligent, or abusive fathers. With this in addition to being told that they are merely animals in public high school, is it any wonder? Sad is it not.
If you want to learn more about this topic I highly recommend this book. I read it when a good high school friend of mine told me he had decided to enter into the lifestyle. It indeed provided me with compassion & clarity without having to compromise my Biblical faith. I've had to watch this friend deal with the consequences of his chosen lifestyle. It's not fun.
Another good resource, although not as thorough on this particular subject is: http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/faq/morality.asp. It talks more about the subject from the Creationist point of view.

Glorification that is seen on television? First of all, there is no human on this entire planet that will say,"I want to be gay because its cool." Homosexuality is not a part of popular culture. Homosexuality occurs either through genetics, or family grooming. Homosexuality is not growing because of T.V., but because its more accepting in our society. Back then homosexuals used to get beat down with ignorance and bigotry and even murder especially from the Bible.
"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

I think most people here have the right idea. It's not that homosexuality is growing, it's just that more people are coming out about it. Also, add that to the population increase. It's logical that the more people you have in a society, the more types of people you'll have, i.e., gay, lesbian, black, white, etc.
Also, I don't think that true homosexuality is being "glorified" by the media. What the media tends to put out are these images of scantily clad, or completely naked, girls doing random things to each other. Assuming that the girls are even of age, they aren't homosexual. They're just doing what some shameless guy hiding behind a camera is encouraging them to do. Usually with the aid of alcohol and/or drugs.
So, no. This apparent growth that you see in homosexuality has nothing to do with television. It just has to do with people of differing sexual preferences being more widely accepted.

I think television has helped power its acceptance, and therefore made it easier and more socially acceptable for people to live a homosexual lifestyle. I'm not blaming TV itself though, I'm blaming the fact that the people behind television programming seem to be more liberal and more accepting of homosexuality than the rest of the population.
(Note: I am not making a broad generalization here, I'm just saying that percentage-wise there are more liberals in show business than there are, statistically, in the US as a whole.)

Hello allabout me,
You if you be a Christian and study God's Word know that we are in the final generation of this Earth Age.
As Jesus Christ has taught us, in His Holy Word, that in this final generation such things should come to pass.
Homosexuality has been with us from the beginning. Satan has tried to sway us away from God at every turn. Being a homosexual is a decision made by the person, it is not something that is natural.
With the media playing a big part in separating us from God, I have no doubt. It is not just TV but every thing we see and do in this final generation that Satan is using to have us go his way instead of God's Way.
Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the LIFE. Go any other way and you die.
If you truly need Wisdom then go to the Word. I do in all parts of my life.
Thanks for your question and I do hope I have answered it the way you had hoped for.

Not entirely, but I think it is definitely a factor.
The fact that we see more people being open about their homosexuality these days encourages others who are certain or not certain about their sexuality to come out of the closet. Homosexuality is something that's been around for thousands of years, but more than ever it is now something to be celebrated about. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? That depends on the individual.

No, I think the number of homosexuals has remained at a pretty constant percentage throughout history. More are coming out into the open, but don't tell me that Ancient Greece had less homosexuals. Oscar Wilde one hundred years ago had no problem finding men to screw. Look, there have always been homos, but instead of coming out they married and then had love affairs behind their wives backs.

I tend to believe that TV is a craven imitator of trends, rather than a trendsetter.
I don't think that what goes on is 'glorification', since every gay person on TV seems to be just as much of a dink as every straight person.
And I don't think homosexuality is growing so much as it's simply somewhat easier to be out.

I think it is primarily due to the breakdown of our society....every society that morally gets corrupted, at the same time is where homosexuality grows. Just read about the Roman Empire if you want to see what happened....and what is happening to us as well. Yes it always exists, but is not usually an open accepted part of society. As it is promoted as "normal and acceptable behavior"...corruption in all other areas grows.

These people are right it's not growing, it just appers to be more abundant for two reasons
1) We have the internet and more ways to show things like homosexuality, and as a direct result:
2) Homosexuality is accepted in mainstream society so more homosexual people feel that they can freely express who they are.

There are percentage wise no more homosexuals today than any other era in history. They are more visible because of less persecution and they are out of the closet. You are less likely to get killed or beaten today. You can openly get a job.
T.V. doesn't make anyone gay, you are or you aren't. Being gay is NOT a choice.
