at the risk of sounding like a smart a** which I have been accused of being.

I know that the issue of how many tattoos one person gets is personal.

I am asking for your opinion by asking how many would you say?

In you answer you can take into consideration the size and where they are...

personaly I don't like seeing a ton of tattoos a few well place is okay with me...In my opinion (and it is mine) one large tatoo is to many. but again it is just my opinion....

now what is yours.

I can't name a specific amount, as it really depends on the confidence and desire associated with having the given tattoo(s). I promise too that I'm not trying to be a smart posterior.

The person with one "peer pressure" tattoo - one they got to fit in & be popular - just somehow feels wrong. One, or however many they got, just don't work for me. The person covered but wants more - the other way.

I'm just too hung up on the connection the external display has with the internal reasons. About the only other thing that can affect it is objectionable/offensive or bad art. Sorry that's so seemingly non-deterministic.

I have Phil Ochs tattooed on my arm (folks singer) I even have "Never Die" and a rose tattooed throughout my ft, with a tigerbat above the ft on my left foot for Tiger Army. I see me getting a pair extra musician tattoos. I have an Ochs lyric tattoed around the again of my neck (Sacred are the scars) and an Op Ivy lyric around the insides of each palms (It's lovely I might say... I do not have it another manner.) I'm considering a sizzling-rod tradition tat, skulls and roses and a banner, gotta prefer the lyric to move within the banner although. As it stands at present, I'd in most cases prefer "In dying as in existence, I will come up" or "My moral sense incorporates the burden of blood."

Its not the amount of work you have, its quality and the personal meaning of each tattoo.
No one can deny the work of a talented artist (or a crap one.)
I have some excellent work that I have received as gifts that mean allot to me.
I also find my tattoos are a great social tool, they help when meeting new people and if anyone is not willing to talk to me because I have tattoos I didn't need to know them anyway.
I dont have anything against non tattooed people.
0 or 100 as long as you have good tattoos it does not matter. If the art is unprofessional crap then that's different story.

People should not be judgemental on what another person tattoos on their body. As a person with only a few tattoos, but desires for many more, they represent things in my life that mean a lot to me. Also, a lot of people with tattoos covering large portions of their body view it as merely art, and it is. Tattoos are beautiful if you stop to study what the tattoo means and represents, not to mention the tattoo artist puts their heart and soul into their work to make a beautiful piece of art. Tattoos can be used in religios works, they can be used to cover scars, they can be used to show eras of your life, what is important to you, or something you stand up for and believe in. The sky is the limit with the meaning of tattoos. So for my answer, each person has to make their own judgement about their own body as to how many tattoos is too many. One may be too many to one person and a person like myself would say, you can never have too many tattoos.

I don't think about "how many" tattoos people have. I look more at the quality of the work.

Besides, the number is relative. You can have three tattoos and they're all little hearts the size of a dime or you can have three tattoos and they are a full sleeve, a backpiece, and a chestpiece. What's the point in numbering them?

I look more at the quality.. and how well they work together.. if you get like 3 tattoos and they're all poor quality.. ICK!!.. I've seen some people that I can tell got the one or whatever.. because "it was the neat thing to do".. I've seen men and women.. with nearly full body suits that I go "wow" .. cause they spent time and chose good artists and designs.

Well, in answering this question, size does matter :)
Technically I only have 3 tattoos on my back.....but my back is pretty covered.
It just all depends on the person and the tattoos. For that person who got a tattoo for the wrong reasons and wished they hadn't, I suppose one would be one too many.....

I have 9 but you cant see any of them unless I show you. I wanted tattoos but I knew one day I would be old and my beautiful flying butterfly would look like a wrinkled up old leaf. I got mine for sentimental reasons, I have some in honor of my father who passed away and some for my two boys. I wanted them for me not for anyone else so I figured noone else needed to see them. And if I get sick of them when I'm a old lady thats okay because most of them are in places I pribably wont be able to see when I'm 60. I dont have any on my legs, arms, stomach, face or neck. So I think that if they are hidden it really isant to much but if they are all over your visual body parts it becomes a little to much for everyone else and not so much for you.

I don't think there is such a thing. Whether you have none or 100, the most important thing is that you're happy with your choices. There is no point at which it is "too much" unless you decide it is.

I don't make a habit of trying to tell other people what to do with their bodies in the hopes that they will afford me the same courtesy.
