God - Jesus is basically my religion.

Trust in God, believe in Jesus...... that's all you truely need to start.... to gain knowledge, to build a connection with God through prayers, build your faith..... it takes time. You don't have to change completely who you are, just go with the flow, and see where it takes you, you may get that evidence that you want when you seek:)

Peace ~!~

I am non-Christian not a non-believer. My belief system gives me great comfort and fills me with joy. It is the best path for me as yours is for you.

You are correct there is a name for believing in a god/deity/higher power and not a religious dogma .. It's Agnostic..

An Atheist let's break down the word.. A = no.. theist= belief in the existence of a god/deity

Put it together Atheist= No belief in the existence of a god/deity..

Thanks for joining the party now you can call things by their proper names like a big boy...

I am curious - what is it that you think we are missing? I have tried your road, but have found no reason to walk it. I am happy. I don't feel as if I am missing anything. I like the idea that my conscience guides me, and not the words of someone else. I do not beat myself up because someone else tells me that what I do is a "sin". I do not fear death. I do not believe that there is a "hell" or that I will go there when I die. I face death with a sense of curiosity.

Thanks I have a connection. I went with the flow after trying bible school. I feel much more connected to the universe than I ever could be to the god/jesus thing.

That's true. Deists are people who don't believe in any religion, but do believe in a god. Also there are lots of people who believe in a personal god who aren't religious.

...my answer is this:

Love is all around us even found in the midst of apathy or hate. Joy is all around us, even rising through the wallowing of despair. Clarity is ever present and can even be seen in pitch black shadows. How do I know ?...I have experienced all at one time or another....BOTH as a Christian and as one who chose to live in my own space.
I know, that a lack of belief in God is logical...I know it is restful...I know it is sensible...
yet...
...in my own soul, speaking for myself, I felt incomplete in that nothing seemed to have inertia...slowly, slowly, I began to listen to my soul from which the Holy Spirit spoke,...softly and gently...speaking for myself...I began to feel the "more" that truly exists...it took time...I gave it time...I listened to another spirit besides my own and knew that God was tapping me on the shoulder...

I have now made the choice to listen and learn and see...speaking for myself, God is real, Christ did die for my sins, and the Holy Spirit is a teacher and enlightens Truth. I have felt my soul and have allowed it to become a receiver of God's Word.

I do believe Atheists speak truth...it is truth...but it is world truth...I can respect and understand this truth....but, speaking for myself, I have added the soulful dimension of God's Truth to my own and in doing so, I am becoming the complete "being" that I was meant to be...

I know I don't have to join any religion to be a theist/deist.

The god concept is logically impossible, therefore I cannot believe in any god which has been imagined over the ages.

Most atheists are quite familiar with your religion. We grew up as Christians.

Why people like you needed god to prove your self worth? Why do people like you thinks the bible is knowledge? Why do people like you think we had not read the bible before?
