I sent someone photos, she wrote back stating that the photo's resolution are 72 dpi. and that she needs the resolution to be 300 dpi

Can I change the resolution of the photo's on my computer? Or must I have a camera that takes 300 dpi

Two are scanned photos, the others were taken by my digital camera.

I suggest you re-scan the photo at 300dpi (dots per inch). You can change the settings before you scan. Using photoshop, you can increase the resolution from 72 to 300 pixels per inch. Increasing the resolution increases the size of the photo as well. There will be a decrease in the quality of the photo, though. For home use the difference may not be that important but for commercial use the distortion may be quite noticeable.

As for the the digital camera, make sure you set it to the maximum resolution (size) your camera can handle. Mine can take up to 2592x1944. This way when you increase the pixels per inch the distortion is not that noticeable for commercial use.

Most Cameras have lower than 100 DPI resolution for some reason. Not sure why. I get the same results when I put my pictures into Photoshop.

To convert existing pics, you use software that will resize it. What you trade off is picture size for higher resolution. But realise, the picture quality is still the same.

I use Photoshop, but there are many others that can do this easy task. I think Picasa can do it.

you can change the resoultion of your photos if you use photo editing software. and as far as the scanner goes, you can change the resolution it scans at.
