Whenever I take self-assessments to see if I may have a problem it always comes back that it is likely that I have anorexia. For instance I took the following assessment http://www.casapalmera.com/eating-disorder-treatment/anorexia-and-bulimia-self-test.html and I got a score of 36 (the only reason it wasn't lower is because I can't say that my friends tell me I'm thin - Q. # 12). I have a BMI of 41 (considered morbidly obese). The only reason that I'm not thin is because I can't succesfully starve myself long enough to actually lose any weight - I always cave. I eventually get hungry and wind up eating. I don't even really binge I just tend to eat foods that are bad for me.

I've gone to a doctor who specializes in eating disorders because I was concerned about my weight - she says I need to have more discipline and self control.

What do you think - could I really be anorexic even though I'm so fat?

They can have some symptoms of anorexia nervosa, but could not be diagnosed with the disorder from a purely diagnostic standpoint. In the DSM-IV-TR, the primary diagnostic handbook used in the US, the first characteristic of Anorexia Nervosa is as follows:

"Refusal to maintain body weight at or above a minimally normal weight for age and height (e.g., weight loss leading to maintenance of body weight less than 85 percent of that expected; or failure to make expected weight gain during period of growth, leading to body weight less than 85% of that expected)."

Some people have a predisposition to problems such as eating disorders. And these people could be 100lb or 300lb and still be prone to developing an eating disorder.

I think you are showing symptoms of bulimia. I know because I used to starve myself (sometimes for weeks) and then binge. I wasn't overweight, but I never became seriously underweight either. Bulimics tend to lose very little weight and sometimes they even gain weight, where as Anorexics tend to lose massive amounts of weight.

It's really important to get the appropriate treatment before you make yourself very unwell. Starvation/binging can affect the electrolyte balance in your body and this is incredibly dangerous to your health.

you can't be diagnosed with anorexia unless you have recently lost 15% of your body weight, or if you are underweight for your height.

HOWEVER, you DO have an eating disorder. Its just not diagnosable as anorexia. You should talk to your doctor and get help on how to lose weight the right way.

Do you realize that every time you starve yourself and then binge, you are doing SO much damage? Your body senses it is starving and goes into starvation mode...so then when you binge, it stores EVERYTHING as fat as a protective measure. So you would be better off just maintaining your original amout of eating. You should educate yourself on how to lose weight the right way. I know a lot on the topic...message me if you want to!

You may have an eating disorder, hence the high score, but likely - and thankfully so - it's not anorexia. People with anorexia perceive themselves as fat when they, indeed, are not... even when they are bone thin and dying, they still feel they are too fat to eat.

But eating disorders come in all shapes and sizes. You might go and get counseling to see what's going on with yourself and how to help you healthier life.

Here are some links about different kinds of eating disorders, including something called "binge eating":

youre no longer fat in any respect. and anorexic all of us is incredibly able to learn weight exceptionally surely because of the fact whilst they starve themselves, their physique is going into starvation mode and something thats placed into the physique after that gets quickly saved as fat. some women that are tiny can eat what ever they choose for because of the fact they have extreme metabolisms. now, anorexia is a psychological illness merely as much as that is an eating illness. apparently such as you have exceptionally good administration over it. so my suggestion is to stop it until now it turns right into a extreme habit and additionally you become obsessive over it. its extra risky than it sort of feels. in case you nevertheless eat much less you would be able to think of you have administration over it yet at some point you need to get dizzy and bypass out for a 2d, get freaked out and verify out to eat and detect that your physique rejects any meals you put in it and additionally you initiate throwing up uncontrollably.. yeah, its risky and it will take administration over you merely before you think of. so stop on a similar time as you nevertheless can and be healthful via determining an hour an afternoon, 6 hours each and every week. and eating healthful meals like culmination, veggitables, finished wheats, and lean proteins (interior the final parts) and it will artwork.. once you think of approximately it, being healthful incredibly is far less stressful than no longer eating. if youre having undertaking changing your procedures, try incorperating one new ingredient each and every week.. consisting of determining for a a million/2 an hour, eating extra culmination and veggitables, or eating much less undesirable meals. good success.

People in self-denial often answer surveys in ways they WANT to portray themselves, so that may be why the survey came back saying you're "anorexic". as you said yourself, you "cave", and as I glance over the assessment, you would answer differently when you're "on a diet" and when you "cave." In addition, for other questions, such as #17, I'm sure you WANT to be thinner than all of your friends, but that is not the reality, whereas the assessment itself is referring to you ARE thinner and want to stay that way.
Just keep eating well-balanced, correctly sized portions of meals and EXERCISE lots.
Good luck.

You are a complusive eater, not an anorexic. Anorexics starve themselves because they think they are fat.
