I'm 25 wks prego. After me & my bf broke up I kept his cat. He wouldn't come & pick her up. In fact, I never really bothered trying to give her back to him & he didn't either, not that I would have answered the phone if he called... I have a 1 br apt & he MADE me get the cat. She used to belong to my Mom & now he has his OWN place & he's not allowed to have pets. The prob is that his cat has 3 legs... Who would want a cat w/ 3 legs ? My bf has mentioned killing her :( :$ He said that that would be quick. I hope he's not serious bout it ! She got her leg amputated when she was 9 mos old. She's 2 now. She's also very fast. She got all of her shots & is a housecat. She's never really been outside, even as a kitten. We got her when she was 5 wks old (not old enough to leave her mom). My bf isn't willing to find her a home. Well, he's not trying anyway... I've thought of putting her on bargain bin. (e-mail, too shy to phone) & to give HIS # out...not that he'd answer... Ugh.

Since he doesn't answer his phone if he doesn't recognize a #, how is anyone supposed to be able to reach him ? I guess I'd have to give MY # & then tell HIM what # called. Also, he refuses to clean his cat's litter box (I'm not supposed to change it) Would it even be POSSIBLE to sell a cat w/ a missing leg ? (Need the $ to save up for our baby too) It's hard enough to try to give her away so I doubt we'd be able to give sell her. What would YOU do ?

The prob is that I can't get rid of her. As if I can just open the door & let her walk out the front door. She wouldn't survive a DAY out there. As if I want a cat around my baby. Too dangerous.

My bf wouldn't kill her cuz he wouldn't even let them put her to sleep. He decided he'd rather pay for the surgery.

She's MEAN !!! Whenever my 1 yr old niece tries to get close to her she HISSES @ her !!! That BRAT !!! So as if I'd trust her to be around my BABY !!! My bf doesn't seem to even care much bout his own cat. He hate to clean up her litter & so does my lil sis. I refuse to clean it cuz I'm not supposed to clean the litter box. Ugh ! I wish he'd actually TRY to find her a home.

What am I supposed to do when I move out ??? LEAVE her in my apt ??? Of course I can't do that. I have NO idea what he plans on doing when I move out of this place... whenever that may be. I wish that cats weren't allowed in this bldg.

SHE HISSES @ BABIES !!! As if a 1 yr old baby is gonna be gentle w/ a cat. She's allowed to hit my bf's mom's cat on the head. That's cuz she's a nice cat. She's had lots of litters & has been living @ my mom's forever. My bf's cat is a BRAT. My bf got a cat (I'm not much of a cat fan) & left her here @ my place. What is a person supposed to do w/ a cat when they don't even want it ? I made him pay for her litter, food, etc but it's not enough. He needs to find her a home. He never should have MADE me go w/ him to go pick up a cat. I should even go drop her off @ my bf's place... get my Mom to drop me off over there (I have keys) & put her there. Let HIM deal w/ it. BUT, I don't wanna stoop to his level & MAKE someone take care of the cat. I don't trust his cat. What would she do w/ a newborn around ? Who knows.

I found a site where I can post a ad for FREE for 14 days. What should I include in the ad ? It needs to be well-written in order to be effective. Anyone ever had to write something like this ? Not sure if it there's a limit of how long it can be either. I'll have to check it out again later.

It seems that these sites I find are mainl for dogs... I'm prob gonna end up filling out this thing even tho it's for dogs. (rescue site). When I looked online there weren't really any places where I live for cats either... The nearest place that I found online is 2 hrs away. Also, if I don't get on this soon enough, I may have to pay some $ if I don't give them enough notice... If I don't stay here, I'd move back home to my Mom's in the country. Has anyone ever had a cat end up moving back "home" ? lol. I wonder if the cats would dislike her... for her being "new" even tho she lived there b/f. She didn't even know her sis. My sis's brought the cat's sis over one day but they didn't even know each other. They didn't play w/ each other even. She's never really seen another cat since she left the "nest" @ 5 wks. I wonder if she'd get along w/ the other cats... I think she might run away. My Mom lives in the country.

Moonpig. According to my bf it IS my fault that she has 3 legs. A table fell on her leg. We thought it was only broken but it wasn't. How can you compare a baby to a cat ??? That's like comparing your friends to your bf !!!

wow thats a long one, First of all I don't see why you cant change the litter box, I know it says pregnant women shouldn't but if you did all you have to do is wash you hands real good after and you can wear a face mask, I would rather go thru that than live in a house with a stinky box.

Second check in you phone book, see if you can find a
NO KILL shelter, don't just throw the cat out or give it back to you bf or ex bf what ever he is.

Being an animal lover, almost to the point of stupidity, I find your question and explanations really sick and selfish. But then perhaps I am prejudiced.
We are to some extent the guardians of animal life on this planet, simply because we have taken over the surface to such a great extent that they have become dependent upon our, often lacking, consideration.
Pets are particularly exposed to the whims of uncaring humans. There are many kinds of cruelty but they include indifference, as any divorcee may tell you ( an animal cannot tell you, and surprisingly many abused animals remain loyal despite being grossly mistreated).
This is obviously not entirely your fault as you shouldn't have accepted the responsibility in the first place. But you still have a current responsibility to find the poor animal a good home.
I am surprised your mother doesn't want her back.
If you find yourself incapable of properly handling this matter, contact a caring animal shelter for assistance. If you don't know one, and can't see it in the directory then ask a vet to put you in touch.
If you destroy this animal, you will feel guilty for the rest of your life. Especially when your child gets old enough to want his/her own pet.
Sorry if I sound harsh, truth is, I am.

aww I feel so bad for that kitty, your passing her around like shes worthless, she has feelings too and can sense it.
Cats aren't harmful for pregnacy, you body gets immune to all the stuff they carry and so does the baby yeah my cats hiss all the time at my freinds baby but the cat ends up runing away everytime the baby comes close lol. I 've had cats all my life. but it seems to me your putting all this on your boyfreind, If you dont want the cat put it in the paper and explain it only has 3 legs and give it away no big deal. If all your thinking about is youself and making money off of the cat, thats pretty sad you should think of the cat and the situation shes in she didn't ask to be put in such a messed up situation!

You can contact your local animal shelter, SPCA, Humane Society or a cat rescue group...cuz this poor cat sure needs to be rescued. Also, your vet may know of someone who is willing to take the cat and give her a loving home. You would be surprised how many people are willing to take a cat with three legs or some other physical problem.

So... what's your problem?
Do you not want the cat because it's defective? or is it because you're pregnant?
Cats aren't harmful to pregnant women or infants. Some people are worried about having cats around pregnant women or infants, but it IS NOT dangerous. Especially if you've had the cat before you became pregnant.
Obviously you're allowed to have pets where you live, so that's not it.
Look, when you adopt a pet, you adopt it for it's whole life. Not just until it's inconvenient.
Can your Mom take the cat back? If not, then put an ad online.
DO NOT KILL THE CAT just because you don't feel like having one. DON'T give the cat back to your bf because he'll probably kill her!!!
Think about what's best for the cat, after all it's a living being that's completely reliant on YOU for her health and safety.

I just can't understand what your problem is... :(

I have the same problem. I bought some granules that stank a bit from Homebase - they worked, but it costs about £4 a tub, and if it rains you have to re-spread them, so it was costing about a tenner a week. I then heard that cats didn't like citrus, so grated oranges and spread that all over the places they offended in most - that didn't work. I then got my own cat, because cats aren't supposed to go in their own garden, and their scent should deter other cats. Would you bloody believe it, not only do the other cats still do their business in my garden - my cat does aswell the git. Poisening or shooting do seem attractive alternatives...

Don't let any harm come to that cat! You should report the b/f to the RSPCA. Are you in the UK?
We used to have a cat who got run over whilst she was in the care of someone else, when we were on holiday. She had three legs and lived perfectly well. She was a beautiful cat.

I feel bad for your cat. I hope your child does not have to deal with the same drama.

Don't give your cat to some stranger with out checking out the home and talking with THEIR vet. Try to get it into a NO KILL shelter before the SPCA. DO NOT put your cat online, there are many labs and sick-o's out there.

Good luck to your cat xxx

Take the cat to an animal rescue centre. . At least the rescue centre can rehome it. Its not its fault that its got 3 legs. I wouldnt even waste any time on your ex. What happened if your baby was born with 1 leg or arm would you kill it? no didnt think so.
