If the eye offend the pluck it out and cast it from the saith the Lord. This is exactly the type of sin the Lord was talking about. A sin repeated time after time with no intention of repenting. Even denying it's a sin to try and appease yourself. Anything than endangers your health and shortens your life while endangering the health of those living in your environment is a sin. Not only is smoking a filthy sin. It is undeniable. When will the cast it from the or take it to Hell with the?

My, you sound angry. I don't pretend that smoking cigarettes is pleasing to God, or that I have an "illness", as you put it. Do you actually think that this little tirade of yours could convince someone to quit smoking?

By the way, I wonder what "filthy sins" you're hiding under that hooker-short skirt of yours. Actually, your hypocrisy is "exactly" the kind of sin the Lord was talking about. Why don't you put on some clothes, and come back with a modicum of respectability and a less offensive tone. If your tongue offend thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee.

If you wanna look at it that way, then swimming could be considered a sin. It endangers you, as it is possible to drown at anytime you swim. So how many times have you swam and sinned, betty?

Or driving, you could crash.
Or walking, you could trip.
Or breathing, you could choke.

Every step and breath we take endangers our lives. So who's the sinner now, miss self-righteous?

And yes, I smoke, and no, I don't say it's an illness. In fact, I know few smokers who actually say "Let me smoke another cigarette, I can't help it, it's an illness"

What kind of people do you come in contact with?
I'm guessing your rather sheltered and know few to no smokers and go by what you hear on TV and The 700 Club.

Hmmm. Sigh. Gee.

I'm a believer and I smoke cigarettes with gusto. If I get lung cancer and told that I'm going to die as a result, I'm certainly not going to sue the hell out of the tobacco company. It's MY fault and MY business, and I LOVE my menthol lights every chance I get. I doubt that I'm going to hell because of it, though. How about people who live in LA and don't smoke, yet get lung cancer? Is Christ going to consign them to the smoking section of hell, too? I know you're just young, but you need to think before you take on us tobacco smokers. I COULD be smoking something else, you know. Uncle Sam the Tyrant frowns on that stuff, so I help employ thousands of workers in the tobacco industry. So what?

Smoking is not a sin! Mankind has been breathing smoke since primitive man first discovered how to use fire to his benefit!!! What do you have to say about all the people breathing in toxic fumes from our cars? Maybe the people in L.A. are all going to hell because of the smog that they produce on a daily basis, that drifts to other parts of this country and others are breathing! Lighten up Betty! There is far worse out there killing mankind than tobacco smoke!!!!!

You are really being judgemental tonight. I don't think anyone has ever said that smoking was an illness. It is just very addictive. We all sin. And we all have issues. Only God knows our hearts and He is the only one allowed to make judgements. You may not smoke, but I guarantee you 100% that there is something that you are doing that is not pleasing to God. Even if it is just being judgemental. Please learn to think about what you say and what you do before you do it. The bible says whatever you do, do it to the Glory of God.

I believe I read somewhere in the Bible that drinking too much wine is not good but I don't recall anything about smoking. Besides, smoking isn't going to send anyone to Hell. You'll not change any minds in here so best to stop judging lest ye be judged yourself. Furthermore, for you information I believe we're already dead and in Hell on Earth. We only start to live when we do die here. And it's "thee", not the.

It is easier to give up heroin than nicotine. Don't be so judgmental. Judge not unless you too be judged. Sorry Betty this info comes form the American Heart Association http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4753
It is a bit Hypocritical to go to my questions and say that this answer is the stupidest you have ever heard. Do some homework girly

Where in your precious bible does it actually say that smoking is a sin? I want book, chapter and verse. Just remember, I have a bible sitting right here next to me so I could look it up. Don't be saying things unless you could back up your claim. If you can't prove it, don't say it!

Ok, and who do you think that you are? Are you Jesus, that you know the mind of God, or the hearts of men? That you can judge them? Before you call down the wrath of God on others, you should maybe get a little closer to him yourself. Since you want to paraphrase scripture here, how about the verse about removing the plank from your own eye before pointing out the speck in someone elses?
