DO NOT treat the baby. lice shampoo has very dangerous chemicals in it that can be absorbed into the baby's scalp. the only thing you can do for the baby is to keep going through it's head very carefully with the lice comb, and make sure to wash all bedding.

The latest is that there is no need for washing of linen and clothes, the lice won't survive but a few seconds away from the hair, but you should go and buy a fine-tooth comb and a bottle of hair conditioner. Rub the conditioner (full strength) into both children's hair, let it sit a couple of minutes and then carefully comb their hair back thoroughly, until you've been through every bit of it. If you put a towel around the child's shoulders and wipe the comb on it, you'll see evidence of the lice on the towel. The conditioner stops the lice in their tracks because they need to jump from one hair to another, and they get bogged in it. This is proven to be true!

Nix is only recommended in patients > 2 mo. However I did find one article where a 23-day-old infant was safely treated with permethrin 5% cream so Elimite might be safe to use.

If the baby continues to show no sign of lice I wouldn't treat him at all, but if it does show up I would call the pediatrician and get a recommendation on what to use.

Head lice a are little bug gars. They cling to the hair and drive you nuts.
EVERYONE in your house needs to be treated.
wash the linen from the beds and air the bedding matresses out into the sunshine if at all possible
.
You need to treat everyone in the house because they jump.and you must treat yourself also.

then continue with the treatments fortnightly until they are really gone.

air the bedding in the sun if you have sun where you live.
How about shaving the kids hair. it doesn't look bad on little kids.

You should treat everyone in the house just to be sure. Make sure you buy a chemical free lice treatment for the baby. Ask your local pharmacist to help you find one. Then wash and dry all bedding. Then buy the lice spray and spray it on all your upholstered furniture and mattresses.
