You get to use logic and science and all they have is unverifiable verses from their scientifically disproved Bible and faith. Isn't it like having a battle of the wits with an unarmed person? I feel like a bully sometimes. No matter how much you beat them down, they keep coming back for more.

I find it amusing actually. So many of them haven't even the intelligence to know they are being laughed at.

Atheists do not have an unfair advantage.

The truth is, that no science can fully explain how human consciousness works.

This is why the best "smartest" super computer can not beat a well-practiced chess player. A human has the ability to look at a chess game and critically think about how different moves will affect the game and make a move based on the assumption that he will make another move to follow it, or based on his memory of previously makeing a similer move, all in a way a computer can't.

If we knew how human consciousness worked, it would be simple to create a computer that was true to life artificial intellegence.

People who study human consciousness and the philosophy of the mind always come back to the point that the mind has properities nothing purely physical has. Atheists like to say the mind is simply material and leave it at that though all current knowledge contradicts that. Based on ongoing study and philosophy at least since the 1500's and through today, human consciousness cannot be explained as a role of a purely material mind. You say you have science and logic, but science and logic cannot explain the workings of the human mind without the theory that something non-material plays a role.

It was an atheist (I'm sorry, I learned of her in a poli sci class and can no longer rememeber the name) who said something like "we atheists have our work cut out for us" in regards to explaining human conciousness.

So all in all, no atheists do not have some big advantage over theists because atheists can only supply the idea/thought that "the mind is purely material because I believe all to be material", not actual scientific fact, to explain human consciousness.

With nothing proving, in fact nothing strong or reasonable even supporting the idea a purely material mind as an explanation for consciousness, then this diminishes the credibility of atheistic thought in general, as it relies on material/physical as being all there is.

Atheists might have logic and science, but they do not apply scientific method nor logical thought when it comes to religion; Christianity specifically.

So why spend so much time on a Religion & Spirituality forum? Because the types of Atheists that come here day after day are not logical, or scientific. Those that are scientific and logical do not finf the time to come here, escpecially every day.

So, ipso facto, the one's that repeatedly come here are bored of science and logic, and are not scientific. Otherwise, they would be spending thier time on those subjects.

Personally, I find that the Atheists that come here have never spent a minute in the lab, or in the field. Let alone in a science or Logic class.

Religion starts with an answer, and then works back to the question.
Science starts with a question, and then works up to an answer.

If you are using the laws of science, which are logic and testability, then of course scientific arguments will seem better. However, if the religious answer IS correct, then any method...no matter how brilliant...that does not arrive at the answer is foolish.

Besides, science cannot prove anything. Let me say that again. Science ~cannot~ PROVE anything. If you disagree, then you do not know science.

Tina, I'll be glad to debate you any day.

The Spirit of God became resident in me when I learned about that scientificallly disproven Bible. I've seen miracles (bonfide healings and medically proven impossibilities), I converse with the Almighty and take his correction.

I've never seen one word of Bible prophecy proven to fail; and I'm watching the world run the exact course prophesied by Jesus, the prophets and apostles from 2000 to 3500 years past.

You cant' touch that and none of your so called textual critics would dare apply the same rules to the US founding documents that they do the the Bible.

Compare apples to apples and Bible texts win hands down compared to any and all documents of antiquity.

So, try again?!

There are a lot of them so we need our intellectual advantages of reason and logic ...what's unfair about applying them.

Unreason won't be reasoned with...Christians will always squirm out of a tight debating corner by using their magic unreason get-out clause...in other words they don't play fair and change the rules as it suits them.

Atheists will never have an unfair advantage... they cannot debate. It is not in their nature. Anyone who disagrees is in their feeble minds ignorant. Science still does not have all the answers and your logic especially seems quite flawed.

No one really wins that debate. If you're debating someone who truly believes their religion, they rarely budge. You don't change their mind and they never change your mind. I tend to avoid those type of confrontation. It's usually a waste of time.

What is it that keeps us coming back.......???? sorry, but we have something much better than all of your "scientific facts" if that's what you want to call them. No offense intended, just answering the question.

Well its more like trying to disprove a non-existent entity. No matter what you do they want proof of its non-existents.
