actually, this is one of the sweetest stories I've ever heard. I don't think it is odd at all, most children do have talks with imaginary friends their stuffed animals etc.. not at all putting god in this category (I to am a believer), but you understand what I'm saying. she might indeed be dreaming and See's herself being protected by an individual in her dream and she sees this person as god, because she has been taught that god will watch & protect her, espicelley if there is no father figure in her daily life.
Then to put a different light on this, your little girl could be a special and gifted little one that truley does talk with god, the fact that you said that no one talks back means something. I would for sure not be alarmed, and just let this go the course, how harmful can talking with god be?

Hi wildflower,
When our daughter was three she seemed to be so close to God and also have a knowledge of the Bible, it was amazing to our friends at times how in tune to God and how much faith she had, and we had only visited church off and on for six months at that point. I knew she learned from her Sunday school teachers, they taught her and prayed for her. Your daughter has someone teaching her and praying for her as well. What a blessing for her. I think if all these conversations continued I would put an audio recorder in her room and let the preacher hear it and give his opinion or write down everything she is saying and tell the preacher. I mean since you're asking about it, he or she might be able to have some insight that someone else hasn't thought of. Also, when "God" is spoken of, He'll be there. You said you speak of God in your home, so you are bringing Him into your home. God Bless you for that, only good can come of it. I hope this experience with your daughter is a blessing to you and everyone in your home.

I don't think there's anything wrong at all. I would find it odd she is dreaming the same thing night after night, but maybe you should encourage with quick bible stories before she goes to bed. The time together is not only some of the best quality time you can spend together, but you can see if she's really interested or just fascinated. You may also ask your pastor what he thinks of the situation. Three is a very young age to be having those kinds of dreams, but who am I to judge. I wouldn't worry about it to much.

It's not weird that your child is speaking to God at night. Many children are the same way because children have more innocence than adults and don't feel like they're being stupid for saying how they feel. Even if you are mild believers and only go to church once in a while maybe that is all it takes for your child to truly feel connected with God, which there is nothing wrong with. Maybe you should take her to church more so that she may be able to be in the type of surrounding where fellowshipping with God is encouraged.

I think it is time you became more than light believers.
You say she is doing this in her sleep so she is not trying to act like someone or something she has seen.
The fact that she remembers this happening and can tell you what happens is an interesting point to examine. I would ask her to describe things such as what she is wearing, what HE is wearing. Things like that.
You DEFINITLY want to encourage this, and like I said you will probably want to get her to church more often, if for no other reason than she is about to start having questions that as a light believer you may not have the answer too. ... BUT find that answer together.

When children are this young they have not yet been taught not to trust. If your daughter says she is having a conversation with God, why would you question it? At her age she has probably said she wants to marry daddy, too. She relates love with marriage.
Do you ever help her to pray before she goes to sleep? Not a formal prayer, just something like, "Dear God, thank you for the day I have had - the flowers in the park, my doll, the puppy we saw. God bless mommy, daddy, grandma, Mrs.______, Amen. Let her add or omit what she wants. It will also begin to teach her to thank others for what they have given her, and to help her to be aware of what God has created in our world so that we can thank Him.
I am unfamiliar with "light" believers; so, if I have suggested something contrary to your beliefs I apologize. I believe your daughter is being honest with you and you should not be concerned.
Good luck and God bless all of you.

I know this will get loads of criticism but here is my answer. If your child is doing this and whether people want to believe it or not, it could be a sign. Throughout history, many nuns, priests and Saints have had these experiences and everyone thought it was their imagination or that they were "crazy". It could be her imagination or maybe it isn't. As long as what she says is positive I wouldn't worry. Now, if she were saying God told me to kill the cat next door.....then I would consult a professional. Encourage her relationship with God, take her to church and maybe get her a children's Bible. You never know, she could be the next Mother Theresa! Good luck!

That is very sweet!
It is about the age of three that most children start developing imaginative skills and dreaming/thinking/speaking about things that are not completely reality based. Kids start playing pretend, using objects inventively (not for functional purposes) and developing imaginary friends (not that God is an imaginary friend, but that's an example) right around that age. My son talks to his teddy bears! It's good that your daughter is developing her "thinking outside the box" skills, and it's definately a good thing that she feels such a close connection with God. It'll be a fun thing to tell her about when she gets older :)

This may be over the top but I believe children have very adept senses to these kinds of things. As adults we are open to most things we are not afraid of. A child of three hasn't seen through movies, media, books, etc. that "paranormal" things such as ghosts and angels for example are considered strange. Maybe in her sleep a part of her mind that is usually closed while awake opens to a memory of her spirit before she was born. Kind of like seeing a ghost. Only this is something her spirit saw before coming to Earth.

wow that's an interesting thing for a 3 year old, she must have picked it up somewhere, some may say it's a phase but it's hard to determine the real cause of it and why she's doing it. It may be a genuine thing...I'd wait and see how much longer it continues. Do u remeber when it started and how?
