The mormon gospel teaches that those who follow the faith will become gods.

Good point, often brought up in my seminary class, but never answered to any satisfaction.

Perhaps the good General Moroni wasn't as valiant as he wrote, as he doesn't mention the support of his good wife (or wives), so although a key player in mormon history, he missed the mark as an extreme celestial being, and is now merely a servant to the Other Exalted Guys. In fact, out of all the men mentioned in the BoM, there's only a few women mentioned, and fewer still with a name...

Or maybe this is a temporary position as "Acting demi-god" and will be promoted during the millennium to the "Real Thing" with the rest of life resurrected: people, animals, plants, bugs and bacteria.

Or there's some other reason that isn't revealed as it has nothing to do with our 'salvation': the traditional lds cop-out.

The scripture you refering to is talking about when someone did not acquire the blessing of Eternal temple marriage, they most they can be awarded is the status of an Angel.

This by no mean saying "Moroni" is at that status. The book of Mormon did not mention anything about he is married or not, so we do not speculate.
We do know that he is the last Prophet in the Book of Mormon who was tending to the gold plates, so he is the rightful person to hand down the gold plates to the next succeeding prophet, which is Joseph Smith.

Angel means " messenger of God". If God came to you and ask you to do something for him, you can be called an Angel too.

Moroni was an angel at the times he appeared to Joseph Smith, but that doesn't mean he's going to remain that way forever (or even that he hasn't achieved godhood since that time). It's also entirely possible that richeous people from this planet aren't going to progress to godhood until after Judgement Day, when everyone is judged (as mentioned in the book of Revelation).

The end of this earth hasn't come around yet.

Gods meaning joint heirs with Christ.

Antimormons really find stuff in the JOD's, and other works by general authorities and point to them and call them Mormon Doctrine. Nope only the Standard Works and Items from the First Presidency are official Mormon Doctrine.

Dear one, as a daugter being born to goodly parents of the mormon church. I feel compeled to share with you. the church teaches good moral basics and values. As you come into direct contact with your angels guides and maybe even
Christ as I have you will see that the church is operating on a pre-school level. the big missing piece is that they dont teach about this direct contact this inner knowing, without contributing it to the holy gohst, or a feeling you get when you read the long out dated and only abstractly perntament source of the scriptures. theres some good stuff there, but where did it come form? and who's version are you digesting. Very interesting the church was founded by and apparently continues with psychic pheonominen, but they dont teach or honor it for the individual. Do you feel afraid to question it? I did. But I was alienated from God by it and I couldnt spend the rest of my life this way.The women of the church are kept in a little box of control, hoping to ride someone else's jacket tales to heavenly accomplishment. All is within dear, if your comfortable with this discussion I have much more.

"Angel" is actually more of a calling, a messenger. You are referring to something that was from the last century. Believe it or not, people continue to progress after death, and in the Resurrection and Millennium, there is time for all the family ties to get straightened out. By the way, Jesus Christ Himself said we are all gods, as the children of God, we grow up to resemble our Heavenly Parents. It's not that hard to comprehend if you realize children everywhere around you also grow up to resemble their parents.

Maybe because the "angel Moroni" wasn't really one of the elect angels of God since the Mormon religion has added to God's word with books written by a false prophet.

2 Corinthians 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

I don't believe the Mormon gospel allows for more than one god, hon.

Oh your good, good question, why didn't I think of that when I was questioning the theology of the church.
