Seeds

Seeds are able to be stored for years, some can be eaten raw and some can be cooked. They have a wide balance and if you are in a long term survival situation then you can begin to grow your own food.

Jerky and other dehydrated food are good for the short term but you will suffer nutrition and health issues (think gout) if you try to survive on it long term. Ideally you should have some easily portable foods like jerky for the beginning but if the world we know ever comes to end the people who survive are the one prepared to continue living.

Don't stress about meats because they are around in many forms when you needs it but seeds can bring about a stability for the future.

Water is important but you can't store enough for your needs long term. You really need to stock up on multiple ways to provide potable water from any source and containers. Try not to rely on one thing that could break or chemicals that you might discover regular use of might kill you (like iodine). Water can be found in many unusual places tree sap for example.
