The Bible has little to say on the subject. Some things to watch out for:

1) Keep yourself sexually pure. Sex is reserved for marriage, where it is to be practiced often and with enthusiasm.

2) Dress modestly; talk modestly; don't entice those of the opposite gender to sin.

3) Honor and obey your parents.

4) You shouldn't date someone who is not a believer. The Bible refers to this as being "unequally yoked".

Here's the thing with dating: The only scriptural "relationship" si the marriage relationship. So any dating you do should be with marriage in mind. You're not going to get married when your 14 years old, or even 16, so it's reasonable to not bother dating at those ages. It's fine to have friends of the opposite gender, but there's no reason to be in a one-on-one relationship.

Remember the only way to get out of a relationship short of marriage is to break up. Breaking up is like divorce. It is hard on everyone involved. If you avoid getting into that situation in the first place you can avoid having to get out of it.

Save dating for getting to know someone who is a potential spouse. Don't clutter your life up with a bunch of failed relationships.

There is no scripture for or against dating in the Bible. Realize that during the time the Bible was written most marriages were arranged. So people did not "date", so there is no mention of it.

The major issue with dating is that today it has become common for teenagers to go places alone and unsupervised. That leaves open a door for them to be tempted into improper sexual situations. It also causes teens who are much too young to start making emotional commitments of "love" to each other that only result in their being heart broken.

So many Christian church are encourage dating couples to limit their "alone" time, and instead "group date", or take part in church activities, etc. To do more looking around and experience friendships with many members of the opposite sex. That helps them to better understand what the "other" sex is like and to avoid temptation and heart aches. They save themselves physically and emotional for the one person God has for them. And they wait until they are old enough to have a serious relationship before giving their heart to just one person. For some, that may mean through college and into a good job.

Hope that explains the "no dating" concept being advanced by many Christian churches.

The Bible speaks of the "bloom of youth" (1 Corinthians 7:36) which is the teenage years when hormones and passion often over rule common sense and consequences. If one is past that and is ready for marriage, dating is fine. There are still dangers and at any age one has to be aware of the consequences.

Maybe avoid "dating" and just "hang out" with people that you enjoy being with.

One day you might encounter one person that you never want to be away from. Yee-Aay

You can date, you just can't have sex or foreplay. Kissing is okay in moderation.
