Men usually don't get an engagement ring. They will get a wedding band for the ceremony, but females are the only ones who get the diamond ring.

traditionally guys dont get an engagement ring. I dont think it is expected. But it is really up to you. If you want to get him a ring, go for it. But then he has the issue of what to do with it when the wedding ring goes on. Maybe get him a nice neck chain if you want to give him something symbolic. If he is a labourer he might not be able to wear a ring safely at work so getting him a chain gives him something to hang the wedding ring on later on. Good luck

It is becoming much more common for women to give their fiance's an engagement ring and it is so nice that men are accepting of the gift. There are a lot of beautiful men's rings with diamonds, or if there is a particular gemstone that he likes, you could get that. I was going to get my fiance one and he was okay with the idea, but I wanted to get him a men's ring with a blue topaz cuz that's what my engagement ring is. Even though I found some beautiful rings that were "manly" he thought blue was to sissified, so I didnt get it.

Do you mean does the guy get one? Or what type does he buy her? Men shouldn't wear engagement rings, they are only for woman. If he is buying one, she should pick it not him.

My b/f wanted a ring when we got engaged, who cares what is traditional, every relationship is unique and you should do what you feel is appropriate for you and your man. My b/f wanted a titanium ring, I got him one that was two tones of titanium and he loves it.
