I am living in the US and need my birth certificate from Nagpur, India. This is required for green card purposes and have to submit the certificate within 15 days. Someone please advice what is the best way to get this - is there an agent available who can do this quickly? I do not have anybody living Nagpur who can help me.

I am sorry to say but its difficult. Birth certificate needs to be taken in person. Because you need a duplicate one. Along with that some proof like school leaving certificate is required. You need to contact the local municipal office in nagpur for the same. There are no Agents who do this job !!

Have someone go to the Municipal Corporation in Nagpur and bring Rs. 10000/-.
Have him go to the birth certificate issuing office and find out who has the authority to issue a birth certificate. Sit in front of that man and tell him the truth why you need the birth certificate.
His answer will be obvious and the procedure will be lengthy. Simply offer him the money of his choice and you will have the birth certificate.
There is no better way.
I obtained mine that way only.
