I once heard the survivors of a colony of ants that had been partially obliterated by a cow's foot seriously debating the intention of the gods towards their civilization
— Don Marquis

The idea of an incarnation of God is absurd: why should the human race think itself so superior to bees, ants, and elephants as to be put in this unique relation to its maker? . . Christians are like a council of frogs in a marsh or a synod of worms on a dung-hill croaking and squeaking “for our sakes was the world created.”
— Julian The Apostate

The chimpanzee and the human share about 99.5% of their evolutionary history, yet most human thinkers regard the chimp as a malformed, irrelevant oddity, while seeing themselves as stepping stones to the Almighty.

If we long to believe that the stars rise and set for us, that we are the reason there is a Universe, does science do us a disservice in deflating our conceits?....For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
— Carl Sagan

No egoism is so insufferable as that of the Christian with regard to his soul.
— Somerset Maugham

The cosmos is a gigantic fly wheel making 10,000 revolutions a minute. Man is a sick fly taking a dizzy ride on it. Religion is the theory that the wheel was designed and set spinning to give him the ride.
— H.L. Mencken

When man comes to the realization that he is not the "favorite" of God; that he was not specifically created, that the universe was not made for his benefit, and that he is subject to the same laws of nature as all other forms of life, then, and not until then, will he understand that he must rely upon himself, and himself alone, for whatever benefits he is to enjoy; and devote his time and energies to helping himself and his fellow men to meet the exigencies of life and to set about to solve the difficult and intricate problems of living."

I suppose it can be self delusional or egocentric to think God has called you to a certain position or life. However, that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen to some folks. For example, why would anyone want to be a missionary in some small part of Africa. The weather is too hot, too many bugs and poverty is beyond what we could ever understand. It is not the cushy life, so to speak. But some folks have a special call to do this and find great reward in it. That is from God. We human like things easy. I personally believe that whatever you do in life that God has placed you there for a reason.

Neither. My Pastor was called by God to his teaching ministry. He didn't want to be a Pastor. He told God that he saw the kind of life his father who is a Pastor had to live and he just wanted to live life as a "normal" Christian. But God told him that he was called to be a Pastor. Then God told him a few years later that He wanted my Pastor to go to California because He was going to use my Pastor to call thousands of unsaved people into the family of God. So my Pastor left his comfortable position as an associate Pastor in his father's church of over 1,000 people and went to a church with only 35 people. Now the congregation is over 5,000 and growing every month. My Pastor wasn't deluded and he wasn't egocentric. He describes himself as someone like the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Just a guy who liked hanging out and playing basketball until he was moved by God.

Some people hear a calling to serve God in the ministry and some people hear a calling to do conservation work or help poor people or go overseas to fight for freedom or help people with their pet problems, nursing, doctoring, whatever. It's important to be humble about doing the Lord's work---what is more important than spreading the Gospel message, saving someone's eternal soul and helping them grow spritually? Anyone using their position as a "called" servant to pump up their pride is doing it for the wrong reason in my estimation.

Your delusion is the epitome of all claims whether it is of yourself or others. How can you possibly know whether another has heard a call or not? Is your Ego so great that it allows for no other center to the universe?

Since you are antagonistic in your question and obviously spiritually blind you wouldn't understand the answer even if someone explained it to you.

I will try though - there is a small hope you can be taught!
God does the calling and choosing because He sees hearts that are not smug in their own superficial psuedo-knowledge
and want Him to teach them.

Your god, Satan, has deluded you into thinking everyone else is deluded making you the bigger egocentric and foolish one.

God isn't into games and trickery, and when He reveals Himself to people it is the real thing, not the conniving treachery of your master. But then, you can't see how Satan is tricking you while you are in your current situation. You need to ask God to open your eyes, and then you will see it is no delusion that He speaks to those who love Him.

EDIT: I SEE BRIAN FOUND THE EPITOME OF STUPIDITY AND PUBLISHED IT IN HERE. FOOLS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER. I CERTAINLY DON'T SEE ANYONE IN THAT LIST TO ADMIRE OR LEARN ANYTHING REAL FROM.

Neither. If you believe in an all powerful God, then He can focus His attention on more than one being at a time. And Again if you believe in something than delusion doesn't factor in.

Neither. People have been called by God to do things, like missions work, being a missionary, starting up a church, etc. If you're not a believer, either one of those would be your word for it. But if you are a believer, then you'd know that God DOES call people to do His work here on earth. But, like I said, if you aren't a believer, you wouldn't truly understand what it's meant to be called by God, since you aren't His child.

Neither, it's just an attempt to rationalize choices already made.

Actually, some might really believe it, so there would be delusion involved in those cases.
