Oh, and I do read, zerd12000, a lot.
I'm guessing that you and I don't read on the same level, though. Maybe you'll catch up...

NO ONE can tell you what your position with God is.....No one can tell You whether you are saved or not...All true Christians should treat you with love respect, and Grace.

I don't know what other people meant by that. As an intelligent human being you can read the words written in the Bible and make sense of most of it. What the Bible does teach is that the Holy Spirit will illuminate the Scriptures so that a person doesn't just read the Bible and get an intellectual understanding of what is written, they also have a response to the words that they read.
It's like if you saw a sign while driving that said "Do not enter! Wrong way!". You would know that you shouldn't drive in that direction and unless you wanted to get in an accident you would turn away and you wouldn't go down that street. It's the same with truly understanding the Bible. If you read this passage...
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
...you would understand that God loves you and He wants you to believe on the sacrifice that Jesus made so that you could be saved. You wouldn't just read it and say "Oh yeah, right, whatever!". You would think "I want to be saved. I don't want to have to face God on judgment day and be condemned. God made a way for me to be saved so I'm going to take it and put my trust in Jesus."
That's the difference between truly understanding the Bible and just understanding what the words mean when you read them.

I'm guessing you don't read much at all , You should read it because it's a book, it has some good stories in it. The bible was written by men as a guide on how to live a good life. If you want to read it go to a book store and buy the right kind of text that will make the book more enjoyable for you. It is after all , just a book.

Go ahead and read it for the historic information... it might help you to understand just what is going on in the world. A Black man in the bible was reading from the old prophets and he became saved because he asked a disiple to explain it to him.

You should read the Bible because "all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
