Is it good to test your faith sometimes? Do you feel that it helps you to understand it more? When does it backfire and becomes a threat rather than a benefit?

When I am tempted in my faith (Christian) it helps me to better understand God. You see if everything was great and I never ever was tempted or tested then how would I know what I or God is capable of. God uses trials and temptations as a purifier for us. It refines us into more and more of His image. If you trust in God you will never be tested past where you (with Gods help) can overcome. It becomes a threat when you spend more time testing than you do sharing or living the life Jesus asked us to live in my opinion.

I think that most people never do question their faith. When confronted with a thought provoking question that would complicate the validity or some aspect of their faith, rather than seriously consider it, they dismiss it and defend their faith. We all know that not all religions can be right at the same time and in the same sense. So a lot of people have it wrong, and it's consuming their entire being. It's really quite tragic.

Good question! I don't think it is something we are meant to understand in the depth at which you seek. If Faith itself is really a gift from God, than we are to assume that any fluctuation in the amount of it that we have, is controlled solely be Him. Now that we understand this, we are to assume that no matter how dangerously close we come to destroying our faith through questioning, it is all Gods doing. Since we know that He is seeking after us, we can safely say that end objective will be strengthening our belief and drawing us closer to Him.

I'm going to take you seriously. I've explored several religions & when I asked questions, I was told I lacked faith. I should take the spiritual leaders at their word & not ask questions (especially because I'm a woman). I'm an agnostic now. I'm not going to say that there's not something out there, but.......The religions which made the most sense to me were Buddists, Taoists & native Americans. They all have respect for life (nature).

hi there

Faith is a vital life changing creative power in human experience. did you know it's not faith plus obedience that equals salvation ,but obedient faith that equals salvation? true faith is verified in your obedience to god. It is your faith that is spread abroad ,but in the end it is your obedience.

Faith that EXCLUDES obedience won't save anyone .
Faith is more than a belief in GOD. It's also a way of life .Faith is the belief that GOD is real and that GOD is good . It is a choice to believe that the one who made it all hasn't left it all and stills sends light into the shadows and responds to gestures of faith.

Faith is the belief that GOD will do what is right.

My faith in GOD has to do with many things in my life for which the naked eyes would not understand unless seen in some strange way. My faith is so strong that at times I do get weak but not by my choice but of those dark forces around me.

I have seen demons in ways of shadows . I've heard to my understanding the voice of god I know it's hard to belive but that why I say the naked eyes only sees . I stregthen my faith in prayers and looking at the sky and knowing that somewhere up there is a mighty god watchng me. by watching shows about god reading the bible or just answering religion spirituality here at yahoo makes my faith more stronger than ever and knowing that what the bible says has all come to term as we speak . so if your faith is not as strong as you think it should be close your eyes and speak to GOD for only he can hear your prayers and make your faith stronger than before.

be well be safe god bless

Questioning your faith is very healthy for your faith, but it becomes detrimental, when you do not research your questions. Faith is in the person, and only you can kill your faith. After all faith is trusting a power, person, or even idea thats not your own and not in your control.

It is good to ask questions. If you have a question that is a challenge to your faith, then you should definitely not ignore it. If you are believing in the right thing, then it will withstand the questioning, and you'll learn more. If it isn't true, then you shouldn't be believing in it anyway.

God created us with the ability to evolve to a person that questions everything. Humans have a habit of making up things when they don't know the answer. I question God all the time, but that doesn't mean that I don't believe God is real. God has helped me many times. I do question religion and have concluded I want no part of it. PS. Thank God self admiration isn't a sin, I would hate that you would have to put a shirt on.

i guess it might strengthen it to a point. if you believe in your faith and have faith then questions that you dont get a satisfactory awnswer to will be made irrelevant by your faith to your religion. i think that it is okay to ask questions about your religion, but get awnswers from a good source.

If you don't question it, how do you know for sure what you believe?
Regardless of the outcome, you need to find the answers for yourself.
If you are afraid of going too far, then you believe in something you are afraid of losing. Then you have your answer. You have faith.
If you don't see you losing anything-then you have no faith in religion.
