Of course he will be fine. They are mostly indoor dogs anyway. He will need a sweater for winter when he goes out to take care of business. You will need to make sure his vaccines are up to date and that you have a current health certificate when you cross the border.
It would definitely be harder on him to be left behind; abandoned as it were...

Sure why not! I've been to Canada many time and have seen plent of Chihuahua's there.
They love them their too. In the winter all they need is a good coat to keep them warm and not to be out side to long.
Take your dog you'll be happier and so will your dog.

Of course. It's only cold in the winter but not as cold as Chicago or Detroit is in the winter. Right now it is really hot usually. It's about 22 to 28 F this week and next week. Almost every home on every street has dogs.
Where are you moving???? Ontario (GTA) is the best area. It's like a mini New York City and very mutli-cultural.

Let me tell you chihuahuas are very resiliant, i moved away from my home to another place about 6 and a half hours away and we drove there with our chihuahua ziggy. and he slept most of the way! i feel your chihuahua will be safe and sound. question are you driving or flying? Living somewhere else is a big adjustment but your dog will be fine in time.

I have known people in Canada that have chihuahuas. I even knew a lady in Alaska that was a show chihuahua breeder. Also people from Iceland who owned chis.

I live in Canada with 4 Chihuahua's. They are doing just fine. I know yours will too. It will be much happier with you than if you leave it behind.

Of course you should take him with you. I don't know how long you've had him, how old he is, but he's part of the family. OK you will have to get a pet passport for him and get him to have all his injections, so he might not like that and the way he has to travel separately from you probably, but isn't it better for him to have a little bit of unhappiness and be reunited once you get to your new home, than abandon him to strangers.

There are certain rules you have to follow that you'll need to look into. You probably have to get papers from your vet saying the dog is healthy and all. But yeah, you absolutely can bring your dog with you!

Chihuahuas are wonderful at adapting. Buy him a good sweater so he won't get cold and he should be fine.
