I don't know, I just think it would be more tolerable if oppression and greed weren't in the name of good intentions.

i agree with you to an extent... Sometimes it IS religion's fault to a certain measure, because the people who are carrying it. for instance crusades, bible thumpers, etc. that all has a basis of religion, BUT it is the persons fault.
i definitely agree with you when you say we all have the same faults... i mean, we are humans, and us being mammals have a nature, and a first instinct about things... that's what keeps us as animals.
but i feel that if there was no religion, things may change, see if god was proven wrong then im sure lots of people would go in a chaos rampage... there is a theory that the Catholic church knows god isn't real, but doesn't say so because this world would take a nose dive into destruction. If there wasn't religion even to begin with, then you may be right, but if things altered peoples mind today, that may be a different story
hope i helped,
Johnny

Well yeah religion isn't the problem it's people plain and simple but when you take some of these simple minded people who want to twist their religion around and use it for hate then religion becomes a bad thing. People are killed over religion granted without religion they will still find reasons to kill each other over. Hate, greed, and lust are HUMAN NATURE! heh sad but true. I think some might change without religion but not everyone.

Dear 'A Reflection of You',
Very good point! You got a star from me.
Humans created religion so God could be their fall guy for their own intolerance, hate, and petty human insecurities and inadequacies.
There's too much tendency to attribute to God the evils that man does of his own free will.
— Agatha Christie
The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary; men alone are quite capable of every wickedness.
— Joseph Conrad
Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Yes I agree. A good person is always a good person whether he belongs to any religion.
Same thing with the bad person.
To uplift this humanity, change in the individual character is must.

Very true, but remember that the ones on every religion who cause the problems are the fanatics, and there are those in any of the aspects of life, not only on religion.

Religion is a "tool" of human beings to control the thoughts of as many people as they can recruit.

yes, the problem is with humans
it becomes a religious issue when (and ONLY when) people use their religion to justify their hateful, greedy, bigoted, and controlling actions.
sadly, too many people do this. example: they run around sayin all gay people are evil because their precious bible tells them so.

Yes, I agree.
Religion can, and has proven, to be a tool for the corrupt...lets be real here.
I think that many religions are raped by the corrupt.

i agree. i think if there was no religion, ppl would just create it to justify their own faults...so we would be back in the same place we are now. ppl just want to interperet things to better serve themselves, a lot of what ppl have to say about religion, whether or be their own or someone else's, just boils down to how they want to interperet what they heard or read...
