Was it before your indoctrination into the intolerant prison of atheism?

2007-06-15 14:47:17 · 23 answers · asked by Anonymous in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

funny, how so many assumed I believe in the bible.
I believe in original thought, and after passively observing the exchanges on Y!A, I have realized that the most oppressive persons here on R+S are the evolutionists/atheists. Yet they all seem to be parroting the same speach. Suggesting that their strings are being pulled by a common thread. As it occurs that the commonality of the terms is so prevalent, it becomes transparent that the influence has a common source. If it has a common source, than it can not be a result of independant thought.
As evolution is a relatively young concept, (150years) I seem to have found the common thread.
As so many of you evolutionists are so quick with your insults it has become obvious that the father of your thought is none other than Richard Dawkins.
In my opinion R. Dawkins, is a ********.

When I gave up atheism.

It's obvious you've done very little reading here and have based your opinion on a few answers and questions. It's also obvious that you have absolutely no idea what an atheist is or what an atheist believes in. An atheist gathers his or her ideals based on logic and reason, not myths and stories handed down through the ages. There isn't a book or the like we refer to to quote when we need to prove a point. We don't have 30,000 some-odd denominations of atheism. We don't have gatherings and huge schools of thought. Some atheists may refer to people like Dawkins (whom you feel is a "d*ckhead".. your opinion) as a way to expand on their beliefs but do not use him as an end-all-be-all to their belief. And, circular reasoning isn't in our arsenal of tools for arguing.

Everything you refer to would more closely resemble religion, be it Christianity, Judaism, Islam.. pretty much the religions based on the god of Abraham. Not atheism. Atheism is not a prison, it is actually a release from restrictive doctrine. It allows you to look at things in a different, more open-minded way.

Personally, I don't care what your affiliation is, but your obvious ignorance is rather insulting. I hope you take some time to actually do some research into this subject before boldly shooting your fingers off by typing this drivel.

How about you? Have you yet dared to move beyond your little book, who's rule is "Because I Say So", and actually tried to question your own faith? Have you even tried examining the concepts and beliefs of other religions?

And as for original ideas, did you even know that a lot of Christianity (even the stories) has been adapted from others, like the Pagans and Egyptians? Looks like you should spend less time on here and more time trying to educate yourself.

***funny how you talk about parroting speech, and then post the same thing twice***

I had some original thoughts today, but then, I'm a scientist, so it's my job.

I became an atheist because some very unoriginal ideas (Christianity) lost their appeal to me. Imagine that, a Christian calling other ideas unoriginal! Your god (Jesus) was cooler when he was called Osiris.

You fail at logic if you think seeing similar vocabulary words (e.g. in evolution threads, where we discuss a scientific subject with its associated jargon) mean we're being influenced by some common agent.

No, we likely pick up on common words by reading some of the more popular books with some of the more famous images, and we read the same parody religions (IPU and FSM are famous, you know), but that does not mean we were recruited, and atheism is not a subculture. Sure, we may be part of an *internet* subculture (hence FSM and IPU), but otherwise, you are drawing a bad comparison.

Christian slogans come from preachers, not researchers.

The first answer that came to mind when I read your question was strikingly unoriginal, not to mention unprintable, in a family publication. Otherwise, I don't know whether I've ever had an original thought. They're pretty hard to come by on a planet of 6 billion people.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you can have an "Original" thought even if you tried to. Don't forget there is the process of learning and learning from somebody. And I became an Atheist via language, not evolution. Even though I believed in it as a Christian.

I think someone has their 'panties in a wad'.
I've heard different 'Christians' proclaim different beliefs but I've also seen/heard many different views from the broad title of 'atheist'. BTW, were you referring to Buddhists, Hindu's, Wiccan's, Pagans, Satanists, 'soft' or 'hard' atheists? Oh, I forgot Satanists, which is more than likely what you were thinking of, and they have an almost completely different view than the others.
If you don't understand any of those terms, you might want to do a little research :-)

Hmm... considering I was just simply raised with no such beliefs... yup, no indoctrination. But lots of original thoughts, much more then a hater like you ever could even try to brain fart out.

When I answered your last question! When was the last time you had an intelligent thought? in the womb, before you picked up that book of hate? Christians don't think for themselves because they constantly go back to the bible for "knowledge"!

One of the weird results of an education is the awareness of how few original thoughts there actually are in the world.

The idea that your question may somehow be an argument for religious belief just made my irony meter explode.

I work as a professional scientists so every waking moment.

How about you?

If I remember correctly Christianity hasn't changed in nearly 1900 years, Islam in nearly 1700 years, and Judaism in nearly 2600 years.

Which archaic belief system do you subscribe to?
