i want to get closer to God! Does anyone have ideas on how to get closer to him! I feel as though as i got older a wall got taller in between us. Does anyone relate! Can anyone help me find a way to get closer!

You haven't lost God, he still resides on the throne. You are his child and he loves you very much, just talk to him in prayer. Let him know exactly what's on your heart and how you feel. He knows everything you've gone through and truly understands. He's there waiting with loving open arms..all you have to do is let him into your heart. Start reading your Bible, and meditating upon the scriptures. Go to church, and go to the altar and pour out your heart to the Lord. Listen to praise music while you're at home, and sing that joyful song to the lord out loudly. You can even write your journal out as a letter to the lord, (one of my favorites). Ask Jesus to anoint your gift, and use it unto the Lord for his glory.
We have peaks, mountains, and valleys in our lives, sometimes sunshine, sometimes rain. I do believe firmly that whatever difficult situation you have faced this past year, God will bring you out even stronger. It may appear as though you're weak right now, but that's how a Saint is really made. Remember you are more than a conqueror, and you will reach out and help others through. "Be in courage" in Jesus name.

The Lord never leaves His children. It is we that leave Him by not contining to draw near to Him through prayer, reading His Word, song and worship, " obedience,"etc. Just as any relaionship that you develop throughout your life, you have to spend time with the person to build a friendship or more. The Lord expects from those who are His children the same, if not even better, attention if we wish to have His abiding Grace upon our lives.

kk i can definitely relate. Life is confusing and sometime can distract us. Sin, stress, time, so many things can take our attention away from our relationship with christ, believe me i know. The thing to remember is that time, stress, and sin etc. do not effect god or his love for us. He is always there, seek him and you will find him. Draw near to him and he will draw near to you. He isnt allowing things in your life to come between you so don't allow them either... whatever has been keeping you drop it. He already has. :)

It is you who has put up a wall or turned away. He hasn't. Read the Holy Bible, get a New Living translation written in plain modern English. Study it.

I'm so glad that He promised that He would never leave us or forsake us. He is still there. Sometimes we let sin come between us and God but He promised that if we would confess it to (Him), that He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Confess to Him the distance and ask Him to forgive you anything that you have let come between you and Him.

Try your best to attend church every week, for me, that helped a lot when I felt distant.
Also, pray a lot. When you don't talk to someone very much, you loose relationship with them. Right? Same deal with God.

Pray through to breakthrough that "wall."
if you feel distractions coming to mind or "the wall" pray out loud and continue in daily prayers. pick a time every day to pray.

Read your Bible and pray more. Meditate on what you are reading and tell God your desires. He wants us to draw close to Him and as you draw close to Him, He will draw closer to you.

That happens when you walk away from him
Go back and talk to him just the way you feel in your heart
pray and commit your life back to him and talk to him all the time
