There is nothing wrong with Islam

There is something wrong with extremists who kill others in the name of Allah, though.

The main problem is that the vast majority of Muslims are not able to verify and/or confirm what they are told by their clerics that the Quran says.

The only version of the Quran accepted as truthful is the one written in Classical Arabic, language non longer spoken by anyone in any country, and a language that is not even close to the Modern Standard Arabic of today. Not to mention that the countries that speak Modern Standard Arabic, have their own dialects per each country. Most of the people in Islamic countries have very little education or none at all. And even those that have a higher education, if they cannot master Classical Arabic, they cannot read and understand the Quran either. Only the "clerics" versed in Classical Arabic can read and understand the true meaning of the Quran. Those clerics are the ones actually guilty of all the misleadings on the message of the Quran, which they interpret according to their own agendas. According to those "clerics" each and every verse of the Quran has seven (7) meanings, to be applied accordingly (clever!) and no translation of the Quran is the Quran, only the original Quran is the Quran.

I've have the Quran and I've read it and nowhere it says that people should blow themselves up. All that violence and terrorism is an idea developed by extremists and the Muslims clerics that are following their very own ideas, not what the Quran says. Besides, I've read that Muslims hate developed countries because they cannot understand why their countries are not as developed when their civilization is much older, why don't they see that their clerics are the ones holding them back??

But those clerics and extremists want their countries to stay as undeveloped as they are otherwise their people will wake up to all the abuses they have been submitted all their lives for no reason whatsoever.

Ask yourself this question: Have you ever heard about the children of Muslim clerics or the children of any terrorist leader blowing themselves up? NO, the clerics and the terrorist leaders encourage others to become homicide bombers, but not their own children.....!

there's nothing wrong with islam at all. it's the extremists who happen to be muslims and use the religion as an excuse to do harm to people, that's wrong. these are just sad individuals.

islam is a peaceful religion. it's actually more like a way of life. submit to one god, believe in the quran for guidance - alot of things in the quran make alot of sense and i'm not just being bias because i'm a muslim - i wasnt' born one, i converted because the religion had the answers i was looking for.

u cant judge the religion by the act of a handful of extremists. islam has millions believing in the religion all over the world, so we can't really say there's something wrong with it just because of a small fraction of people.

i mean, to be fair, there are people in other religions who did worse things too especially in the past like hitler and charles manson (who believed he was jesus and influenced the "manson family" to believe he was god) and the case of the priest who molested boys, and all the sick murderers and pedophiles we read about every now and then - do we say that it's the religion they believed in or the individual?

hope i didn't offend anyone. peace everyone. much love.

Islam is a peaceful religion. It has become the attack of American media and some extremist who interpret Islam in their own manner give it a bad name. I urge you to explore it more not in the hopes to convert/revert to it, but just so that you see the beauty in it.

I wasnt going to answer, but the ignorant answers forced me to. Islam is very simple and has an answer for everything. First of all we have 5 basic pillars in Islam. Allah says in the quran that if you do only these 5 things its enough for you to go to heaven.
1)Shahada- Declaration of faith" I bear witness that there is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger."
2). Prayers- We have 5 daily prayers every day, Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Sunset and Night.
3) Zacat-Which is Charity, money given for the poor.
4) Fasting the Month of Ramadan- We fast from food from sunset til sunset for 30 days.
5)Hajj- Pilgrimage to Mecca once in a lifetime if one is healthy and one can afford it.
These are the basic pillars in Islam. We dont believe in forced conversions, we dont believe in killing except in defense of ones life, we dont hate freedom, we dont hate Americans, we dont hate Jews and Christians. We dont force our women to cover.

no, it's not that bad. it's no worse than any other religion.

it just got a bad name because of the 9/11 crap. but that was just a few crazy fundamentalists. every religion has them. the majority of muslims are kind peaceful people, just like the majority of christians, jews, etc are kind, peaceful people. everyone is just judging the religion as a whole because of the few fundies out there

edit: btw, contrary to popular belief, islam does NOT tell its followers to kill in the name of Allah. all it says is that if they are confronted or persectued, they can defend themselves. but it NEVER says they may defend themseleves physically. most mulims take this to mean that they can use their words to stand up for their beliefs. it's only the crazy radicals who interpret it as violence that are giving the religion a bad name.

(oh, and in case anyone's wondering, i'm not a muslim, i'm an atheist)

Islam has many good things about it if a person wants to live a good life here on earth. The thing that is wrong about it is that it doesn't lead to eternal life with God because like all of the other non-Christian religions it teaches that a person is justified by their own works instead of by God's work when He sent Jesus to die on a cross to pay for our sins.

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

take your run of the mill religion- christianity, judaism etc, now intensify the "sense of chosen oneness", sexism, evangelism, exclusionary techniques and quest for domination. You get islam. Alot of religions went through this stage in their evolution, islam is going through the same thing.

Everything.

Jesus said, "Love your neighbor"

Mohammed said, "If you neighbor won't convert, kill him"
