Atheists are often charged with blasphemy, but it is a crime they cannot commit... When the Atheist examines, denouces, or satirises the gods, he is not dealing with persons but with ideas. He is incapable of insulting God, for he does not admit the existence of any such being... We attack not a person but a belief, not a being but an idea, not a fact but a fancy.
— George W. Foote
You keep accusing me of blasphemy all of the time, but I cannot be convicted of a victimless crime.

Sadly, blasphemy is still considered a crime in many societies, and some groups (*coughMuslimscough*) are currently working to try to turn it into an international offense.
But it's still a victimless crime.
Hansel, you could just as easily note that Zeus does not exist whether you think he does or not.

Since blaspheming the Holy Spirit is the only sin which God will not forgive, blasphemy can be like spiritual suicide.
Is there a victim in a suicide?
Sure is!
You!

What's the greater blasphemy? To deny the existence of God, or to commit atrocities in God's name?

Actually, the main victim would be the one that is slandering the name of God. No need for someone to get angry at them, they are only hurting themselves. Doesn't hurt God other than makes Him sad that one of His children is pretending that He doesn't exist...but He did give each of us free will...even to NOT believe in Him.

If I say the Sun does not exist does that change anything? Insulting God is still insulting God whether you believe in Him or not.

If you saw a victim, and said, "I don't care..." that is blasphemy if you have a heart that cares. You may be confusing blasphemy with heresy...

I'm an Atheist who feels there's too much defending going on.
I don't need to defend my decision.....so let's move on.
