In your belief, how is it that Joseph Smith can found an enduring church when Jesus failed to do so?

free2b,

One problem with your theory, the Bible was Canonized hundreds of years after Mormons believe the Church apostisized and the Mormon Church did not appear until the 19th century.

Mr. G,

If christ's promise to His Church is false then He is a liar and a fraud at worst and a fool at best. All the construction vernacular used of the Church being built on a foundation of rock and not sand would be false. Furthermore, if the church failed it cannot be the "bulwark and ground of the truth" as Scriptures teach. Of course you have the further problem tht there is absolutely no evidence of your claims of total apostasy.

Jesus established a church and placed it into Peter's hands and it has been going strong for over 2,000 years.

Actually Mormons believe when the Nicene creed was made the church apostatized. No Jesus didn't fail, the christian of that time failed. The church has been corrupted with inquisitions, crusades, and corruption. The bible wasn't published to the masses until the reformation was made it so.
But the reformation led by Luther, Calvin and others made Paul's works superior to all other scriptures. Making the church apostatize any more.

No Christ did nothing wrong his bride to be is ready, he did his job by his loving atonement. It was all man's fault. Man Made doctrines have brought on the apostacy.

Therfore a restoration was needed to save the souls of man from philosphies of men mingled with scripture.

What escapes most mormons about the apostasy is that the compilation of the books of old & new testaments were assembled after the so-called apostacy took place. If these were already apostates according to morgdom, and the authors of evil, how can they trust the compliation of these books? Dumb luck? Guided only partially by god?

The church found a large following from Smith's teachings in the 'Burned-over District" of New York at the time. Also, the US was 'brand new' and had now official state religion, and experimentation was common, but Smith kept pushing the envelope.

The Smith church would've died out after the murder of Joseph in 1844 if it were not for the organizational skills of Brigham Young, the subsequent move to Utah, the isolation, and the practice of polygamy for half a century.

Of course, Lehi did better - his progeny numbered into the tens of thousands in just 40 years...

what do you mean?

Jesus Christ restored his church through his servant Joseph Smith.

We believe in "the Great Apostasy"... The Bible endured; therefore, so did Christianity.

Jesus did not fail in the same way that Moses did not fail. They had different intentions than some try to put on them.

Mormons would all apostatize too, if you just gave them enough time. It's a matter of place in history.
