We just recivied a new rat terrier puppy from my sister (who has severe allergies and can't keep him) He is still a puppy, but about as big as he's gonna be (about 5" long and 4" tall, tiny)

However, we already have two chihuahuas. The older one is pretty old and ignores the puppy. But the 3-year-old /hates/ the puppy. He is ready to pretty much bite his head off.

So, what should I do so all of the dogs can get used to each other? I mean, the older one is bored, younger one is fuorios, and the puppy is sad and lonely. The younger dog, Buddy, has never had another dog in the house before, unlike the older one, Paco (which is probably why he's dealing with it better)

HELP!?

Sounds like all 3 of your dogs are male. They are very territorial! You need to be sure that the new puppy has a separate water and food dish and that he doesn't try to eat/drink out of the 3 year old's bowl. He should also have separate toys if possible at least in the beginning. When introducing a new puppy it is always best to do it on neutral territory, try taking the dogs to a park or other neutral area for a daily romp. Gradually they will learn to accept this new intruder puppy into their "pack", but it will take time. Meanwhile, encourage good behavior by playing a game of ball or catch with the older dog(s) and then including the puppy as well. Every time the older dog nips or growls you should firmly say "No" to him. Eventually, the older dog will learn it is unacceptable to behave in an agressive manner towards this new dog. Finally, during this breaking in time, NEVER leave them alone in the same space. They need their own crate or room ("den") in order to feel like they stll have a place in the household that is their own. Don't worry, with patience and time the other dogs WILL learn to accept this new puppy into the household!

domicile coaching a canine is self sufficient of its length. The technique is extra the concern. you could domicile-wreck a canine in some days with a crate. for people who're suggesting that a smaller canine is extra of an argument because of the fact of bladder length could additionally recommend no longer getting a domestic dog. Smaller canines are muddle-trainable, and canines that are as much as 30-35 pounds can use a doggie muddle field. Your question could effect around existence type, climate, workout, excitability, temperament, and obedience coaching. for occasion, in case you do no longer choose for a canine it fairly is often finding out its status interior the kinfolk, don't get an Australian farm animals canine, or in case you do no longer choose for a canine that barks lots, get a basenji. learn the substantial questions. domicile coaching is the elementary section.
