Yet recollection of my younger days with my failed and painful attempts to learn how to roller skate and skate board were not pleasant. For absolute beginner, how easy is roller blading to learn?

Experiance is the best teacher :)
But seriously just practice at some of the local roller rinks that are still around, they usually have alot of nights for beginners and stuff.
Roller blading is alot of fun and good to do with friends.

I was not blessed in the coordination department, yet I can Rollerblade. You can do it and it is so much fun!

Wear full gear - helmet, wrist guards, elbow and knee pads. You may feel like an idiot wearing it all, but when you fall it will be worth the humilation to discover you are unhurt. Pads take out a lot of the "fear of pain" factor.

I didn't fall my first few times out. But now that I've gained some confidence and speed I seem to routinely fall. Oh well - pads work wonders.

All i can say is don't give up on Roller skating!! I am a competitive roller skater and of course I love it!! Roller blading is not too fun either!! But that is my thought!! You have more balance on roller skates so I think you should work on your balance and get comfy then get on blades if you really feel the need to!!

Good luck!!! If you don't mind me asking, Where are you located?

It's easier than regular skates to me, better balance over all. I got I really nice pair of Rollerblade Parkways, they were about $120-130 new. I liked them and they felt good on, but after going for 15 minutes my toes would start to fall asleep from the vibration on the asphalt and it really hurt after a while. I would rent a pair first to see if you have any problems with them before you buy a pair. Biking is always fun too and more of a workout as well.

i say go for it!

it`s simple. i remember trying to reconnect to my past on these roller blades because i had issues with my legs. they tend to hurt at one time and the next minute the pain is gone. long story short: we went to the doctor and had xrays and paid loads of $$ and end up with no kind of problem .. they couldn`t figure it out and yet replaced the issue with the term "growing pains"

.. so then my friends and i went for a roll around the block .. this is when i still feel partial pain ..

i got used to it because i was so tempted. my advice is take it one step at a time. if it doesn`t work out ;; you may want to stretch out and warm up the muscles.

hope this helps! =]] and good luck.

Not that difficult. I found it a bit like skiing. Not much more difficult than that. Much more stable than roller skating. Easier to roll over objects and bumps without tripping. Stopping is a trick, but it's not difficult.

If you have tried roller skating when you were younger, than you should learn fast. I hated roller skating when I was younger and really stank at it, than I did it again and I loved it, and was really good at it!!!!!

It's really easy. I learned rollerblading and all you half to do is kind of kick off and glide. It's really easy and you hardly ever fall down. EVen on my first try I didn't, because it's so easy with the breaks and everything. =)

It will not be easy. You must be extremely comfortable with falling a lot. It will hurt. In the end it is SOOOOO worth it!
