A couple days ago I asked a question about my dog making in the house. He is housebroken and neutered. He did this as a pup and I CORRECTED the problem but now, years later, he started again. I needed some more suggestions and tips and I get the most NASTIEST answer ever.

"you're a poor animal owner and nasty as well

i love animals but i be damn if I'm going to let them destroy my home.........

if you can't house break the mutt.......find another home for it

simple when you think about it .... "

I agree with ALOT of things people say in the dog section. No petstores, BYB, adoption, no puppymills, stop BSL, healthy dog food and positive reinforcement training.

But I love it when people get bashed for asking questions like the one I had asked.
Is it really that necessary?

Alot of you guys are GREAT (goldengal, DP, BH .. and a few others I forgot your names) and are always nice -- but use your comments when needed.

I wish people would actually read the QUESTION

... like the actual DETAILS and not just whats in the question heading.

Jeez.

Am I crazy or is it just me?

Sorry, needed to vet. I got reallly annoyed.

Vet Tech! You were one of the people I couldnt think of :] I love all your answers.

To other answers: Thanks for trying to help out .. I keep adding more details, no one gonna read my question! LOL
But yes, my doxie is the new gal around town. Just got her a few months ago. She just got spayed (thats why I havent been on YA in awhile) .. so maybe my male could tell she was gonna go in heat? .. I don't know.

I thought it was because I got a new pup, but he was always the first to go outside .. eat .. get kisses and hugs .. and even when I FIRST got my doxie .. he never marked.

And to another question .. I took him for a full work-up because I thought it was a UTI .. but hes in the clear. Nothing wrong.

I try not to let what other people say get to me, but sometimes I get so fed up.
Thanks for making me feel better :]

Oh no!! I am sorry you had a bad experience! I would like to think that the majority of people who answer in my favorite section are kind, helpful, and not judgmental. I agree with you... Goldengal (oh Lord the Dixie cup! I can still picture it!!!)and DP are two of my favorites (among others)!!

Unfortunately, there are those few individuals who ruin it for everyone!! The problem is many people are very passionate about certain subjects or are quick to judge and ignore the question all together (like you mentioned.. they don't respond to the actual question). You know?

Have a great day and please do not let things people say on here (or anywhere else!) bother you. People always will have comments about everything.

Housetraining should be based on the prevention of accidents rather than discipline after the fact. If your dog makes a mistake because you didn't get him out when you should have - it's not his fault!

Since your dog is no longer a young puppy he will have better bowel and bladder control. Place the dog on a regular elimination schedule and take him outside at certain times, whether he needs to eliminate or not - first thing in the morning, after meals and play and the last thing at night. It is essential to accompany him to make certain he is, indeed, eliminating. Dogs are creatures of habit. The more quickly you turn a good behavior into a habit, the faster your training will go.

If you haven't already decided on a crate for your dog, you may want to investigate purchasing one for him. The most effective way to teach him to eliminate outdoors is to prevent him from using the house in the first place.

Dogs are den animals and have an instinct not to soil their den. The crate will become your dog's den.

Confinement to the crate overnight or for a three-to-four-hour period during the day when he is unsupervised will help speed the housetraining process.

Despite your best efforts and diligence an accident may occur. If it should happen, treat the incident in a matter-of-fact manner. It is critical that you not scare or confuse your dog by physical punishment or yelling. The dog won't understand why you're upset, and you are only creating more stress for your dog. Put the dog outdoors or in another room while you clean. If the accident should occur on carpeting use lots of paper towel and blot with fresh paper until you have lifted as much liquid as possible. Neutralize the odor with plain white vinegar and water or a commercial pet-odor eliminator. A diarrhea stain on carpeting or upholstery can be lifted with a solution of lukewarm water, dishwashing soap and white vinegar.

Housetraining your older dog requires patience, humor, understanding, compassion and time. He wants to please you by doing the right thing.

all i can say is you are doing the right thing with the create training i have a male dog and he is also starting to mark surtain spots in my house because i just got a new puppy. my first dog has been nutered, i personally thought it was a teritorial thing or i wasnt giving him all the attencion now and the puppy was getting the attencion. but your question helped me, because maybe the new puppy is not the reason why he does this. so all i can say is thank you for your question. now for the nasty answers, i had asked a question about my puppy and some of the answers i got were down right nasty i guess because my new pup is a pitbull, well i got some great advice from a couple of people on here. i personally think that some people are so bored with there lives and feel so badly about themselves that in order to make them feel better they have to bring everyone down! please ignore the nasty comments and as hard as it is trust me i also wrote another question about the problem as you did and it made me feel alot better after writing it. dont get discuraged there are alot of great people out there that out weigh the bad by far. chin up you are doing the right thing! see you helped me..... thank you for your question.

I do not pass to our neighborhood puppy park, due to the fact that it is tight quarters and too dicy with different men and women's puppies for me to be relaxed taking mine there. But the puppy seashore we pass to by and large in the summertime is a fully distinct tale. People are particularly well approximately cleansing up after their pets by and large, and many people can even prefer up stuff others have left in the back of. We do not desire to lose our puppy seashore and so we do what we will to hold it blank. Our puppy seashore is no less than a mile stretch and for that so much area, it isn't highly busy in anybody special discipline besides on vacations. We hooked up in a place and probably the most we manage are men and women strolling the seashore with their puppies. If any person coming is not very well approximately coping with and controlling their puppy, we simply hold tossing the water toys, as our Border Collies could opt for that over an stumble upon with a unusual puppy.

You sound like you have the answer basicly.Your dog still gets lots of attention, Your dog doesn't have an illness to cause this etc.How old is your dog though? If he is getting pretty old, this could be a reason. Puppy pads do help sometimes with this 'cause they don't have to go all the way out. My sisters cat had gotten so old (23 years) that she not only couldn't make it outside but even to her litter box or her food and water dish.We all loved Chi-Chi very much and as much as some of you will hate us for it, we had to put her down. It was done for her and not ourselves. We could not always be there when she had to go bathroom or wanted to eat and it wasn't right for us to let her suffer through this.

I read the other question and the answers. Some people are just jerks. They have no clue what they are doing, so they come in here to make themselves feel better at the expense of others. I occasionally am rude to some people, but the questions are so stupid or plain dangerous, that I can't help it.

And to answer your other question, is the female fixed yet? She is about the age where she will go into her first heat if not, and that would explain why your male is marking again.

I know how you feel, I asked a question about my new pit bull puppy and was attacked because I wasnt aware that all pit bulls were terriers. But the question was obviously stating that I was trying to learn as much as I could about them before she came home. People can be so nasty. And I thought the same thing you did.. All Im doing is asking for advice, on what others think is the best thing to do. So what if I didn't know at the time, at least I was making the effort to learn right?!

Im not sure WHY they are rude but it probably has something to do with them being cocky because they think they are better than us for knowing the answer to our seemingly dumb questions.

This is a common question in every category I have ventured into. There is no rhyme or reason for why people feel the need to write unpleasant, nasty, rude or derogatory remarks other than, they can. They can not be identified so they hide behind their anonymity.
Re your dog marking in the house this behaviour can be due to feeling threatened and needs to mark his territory to keep intruders out. Any new dogs come into your neighbourhood? He may also be getting older and has 'forgotten' his manners.
Good luck with your four footed pal and don't bother with those people whose answers are just for their own amusement.

I think generally people get nasty in the dog section because people care so deeply about their dogs, or dogs in general. I'll be honest, I get so bugged sometimes about questions I read.. (I cannot believe people ask about going to the vet when their dog is obviously bleeding to death ) That I have to get up from the computer and go wake up my dogs and forget about the stupid people out there..

But I think alot of stupid and nasty answers are from people who accidentally found their way into the dog section and they think they are funny...

If you are happy with what you are doing, and you think you're doing the best you can with your dog, and your provide quality care, good food and everything else.. Then don't even worry about what other people say.
If I let comments and words bother me my whole life, quit when people tried to put me down... I would have run and hid my head in the sand years and years ago.. Who cares what people think.. Do the best you can do, and ta hell with the rest of them!

And your peeing problem.. Check your dog food... I have found something thru one of my puppy buyers... Dogfoods that contain maganese and where is says after the Maganese ( source of ) you have to be very very careful and make sure that you in no way at all supplement calcium.. it causes the maganese to build up in the kidneys, causing infection and the dog will be unable to hold it's pee!
So of your dog is otherwise healthy, and it's not age related, or even an allergy related problem.. Check the dog food and make sure you aren't supplementing calcium!
