Sure, it's from the passage about the virgins waiting for the master to come home for the wedding party. Half of them had their lamps full of oil, ready for his coming (if he came in the night they would go out to meet him and the light in their lamps would lead them to the house). They had oil in their lamps and extra for when they ran out. The other half didn't bring enough oil to keep their lamps going and were rejected by the master when he arrived because they brought shame on themselves. They hadn't prepared for his coming.
There are several applications the main one being when Christ comes, will we be found busy about the Master's business, and will be prayed up and ready so that we are not ashamed when He finds us. That applies to the Christians, only.
Another application would be the saved and the lost. Obviously the saved would be the ones ready for His coming.
There are lots of interesting things within the passage to study and to get the full benefit you would have to understand the traditions of the wedding party and that whole thing. We studied it in our Matthew studies briefly this year in Community Bible Studies and it was wonderfully meaningful to us. A great study.

It means you need to be prepared.
We live in a neighborhood where the power goes out during every lightning thunderstorm. Candles are lovely, but they don't give off good strong light and can blow out easily. Hurricane lamps burn brighter, and last longer. The glass around the flame both illuminates brightly and prevents the flame from burning out.
By keeping oil in our lamps ready, we are prepared for the next storm. By keeping a supply of food in the house, we are ready for a possible disaster. By keeping our bills paid up, we are prepared for a change in careers.
This is both literal and metaphorically speaking. If you are prepared for the bad, you will live through the bad times. The better prepared you are for change, the easier it will be to accept change. By being prepared spiritually, you are prepared to deal with the horrors of the world going on now and also ready to accept the Lord when He comes again.
Clean out unneccesary items from your house. Downsize and simplify your life. Forgive those who have offended you, and seek the forgiveness of others. Learn how to survive in the wilderness. Learn of Christ. Get out of debt. Store up a year's supply of food. Learn how to give as well as receive. Be willing to roll with the changes.
By doing these your personal lamp will fill with the oil needed to keep your personal light shining in the darkness of the evil in the world today.
Amen.

It has to do with being a spirit filled Christian who is living with a hope of the return of Christ Jesus in their life. Oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit and the lamp is the light of Christ that we are supposed to be shining into this darkened world to lead others to Jesus. A person who falls away from the faith because the seed of the word fell on stony ground or was choked out by the cares of this world will let their lamp go out. A person who has the Holy Spirit will persevere in their faith until either Christ returns or they go to be with Him.

The Holy Spirit is the Oil in your Lamp.
Your Lamp is your spirit (the Real You).
The more of the Holy Spirit you have in you, the Less Carnal you are.
If you get Enough (and other things) you can Walk in Holiness, with Signs and Wonders and Miracles following you.
It is hard (at least for me) to stay in this State of Holiness, least little thing seems to knock me down!!!
But, Never Give Up!!!
Ditto....give out, Rest, try again

The oil in that verse represent the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. There was a prophecy by our Lord Jesus Christ pertaining to the end times in Matthew 24:12
"And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold."
The only fuel to maintain that fire is God's teaching in the Bible. In Psalms 26:20 it says:
"For lack of wood the fire goeth out;"
It was also mentioned by St. Paul that in the time where Jesus Christ's coming is near many people will turn away from God. In 2 Tim 3:1-9 it says:
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
6They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth—men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
Hope this one helped you.
God Bless!!!

Yes. We know from where in the Bible it comes, Monica ( is that Lewinski?).
Sorry. It means to stay alert, and stay filled with the Holy Spirit, and to be at Christ's work when He returns. You must be alert, because noone knows the day or hour of His return.

Oil and anointing are both symbols of the Holy Spirit. It means to keep the Spirit active in your life...and when you are running a bit low....ask God for more!!

It comes from the parable of the virgins, in which some virgins brought extra oil to keep their lamps burning while they waited late into the night. Other ran out of oil, had to run home for more, and missed the party.
And screw your snotty attitude. I remember this parable from when I was a Christian.

Please, if you are a non-believer, don't answer this question as I am seeking truths.
Yeah, that is real "honorable" of you, except for the fact that all truths come from hearing both sides. fascinating how you who preach truth forget this so often..
