it may take a few days for him to acclimate to using a crate.... but, yes, this is normal. for the first few days/weeks, depending on how well he adjusts to using the crate, avoid using it as a punishment. like if he pees on the rug or chews something up.... i made this mistake and now have a heck of a time getting my dog into her crate when it's time for us to leave the house.
i still view it as a great way to train them.... dogs don't like the pee or poo where they have to 'live'. although, they will if you are not vigilent about getting them outside before or after a few hours in 'lock-up'.
hope i helped.

i do not comprehend once you've a twine crate that your dogs can see nicely out of or the plastic enclosed style. My dogs HATED the plastic one. when I were given a twine one and placed a doggie mattress in it, he loves his crate ever because that. If it truly is not any longer it then perchance it's time to allow him out of the crate. Is he housetrained reliably and also you absolutley comprehend that he gained't get into chewing wires or clothing or maybe if is round at the same time as u are sound asleep. Then perchance he's waiting to easily have a powerful doggie mattress on your room and also you may want to leash(a 6 ft or extra) him to the mattress and allow him sleep there. even even if i'm vast on crate preparation, no longer all dogs are in love with their crates.

Yes it's normal.
Never use the crate for punishment or time-outs. Always associate the crate with something positive, Hide treats in there. Give him a treat every time he goes in.
and finally don't let him out when he cries. Wait until he's quiet for a minute then let him out. He will learn to remain calm will bring him the reward.
Don't leave him in there longer than 4 hrs now and 6 hrs when he's older.

Yeah it is normal. My 1st dog never cried, but my second puppy cried for almost a week before becoming completly comfortable with the idea of being crated at night. be strong...they will learn to love there personal space. Just make sure you don't let him out while he is crying, other wise he will think thats how hecan get your attention, and you will be working on this for weeks.

i personally have never gone the route of using a crate, but many ravish over its advantages so i'll go along...

yes it is ok for the pup to cry! it will probably do that for a while. as long as you are using the crate in a humane manner (not crating the animals for really long periods of time) then the pup's cries are fine. eventually your pup will get use to the crate and cry les and less often. in the end your pup will know the crate is his space and will go in there for comfort and protection. good luck!

Personally I hate crates. Some people swear by them. Dogs are pack animals and they don't usually like to be alone. My dog slept on the bed until lately, since it's been hot and I have had the fan on. Otherwise she likes to be as close to us as possible.

On the other hand I have heard people say that their dogs love their crates and will go in them when they don't have to. So I guess I was no help.

If he never was in one before he probably don't like it now and maybe it scares him. But he will adjust to it in a few days. Don't change your mind and let him
out you will only confuse him and he will never stop crying because it worked and you let him out before. He is just a little nervous, be firm and patient with him. Good Luck

yes he needs to get use to it have you evr delat with a child that need to be sent to their room they also cry.
Just don't give in and she will learn it's ok just make sure she has a kong or some good chew toy she can't destroy when she is in there.
You may want to give her a treat as you put her in and give her the command like crate.Praise her when she is being good and ignore her otherwise.
Good luck

make it more of a home than a prison -- play with him and throw a toy in -- put his favorite towel or blanket or somthing he sleeps with in there -- if you close the door and lock him in he is going to hate it and you will have a hard time changing that -- let him decide on his own its a great place to be -- you can't make that decision for him.

Yeah but put toys in it to make your dog happier and make sure the dog isn't in there 24/7
