Like others have said before, DO NOT take the eggs away from her. She will sit for about 21 days and then give up the eggs. Then you can take them. I kept my birds infertile eggs and after quite some time they will accually dry out.

Do not try to purchase fertile eggs for her to sit on. She will give up sitting before the chicks hatch, if they were accually fertile in the first place and lived through transport. Then she would be faced with raising chicks when it really is a two tiel parent job to keep them fed. You would run her system down and she would get sick and possibly die.

To keep her from laying in the future, increase her dark hours to 12 or more. This will make her think it is winter and not a good time to lay eggs. You just have to completely cover the cage with a dark blanket.

DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY!! They most certainly will NOT smell. Owner of a femal cocketiel, if you take them away, she will just lay more. Let her sit until she doesn't want to. If you are up for the challenge, purchase 2 fertile cocketiel eggs and swap them. Raising baby cocketiels is hard but very rewarding as you will have an extremely close bond with them.
