How long does boot camp last?
Are the recruits allowed to call fam/friends, or get online at any point?
Do they leave right after graduation for more training, or do they have time off?
And seriously, if you're just answering questions to get points, please move on, I'm looking for real answers.

Air force basic training is 9 weeks long, you do get to call home while your there but it isn't a very long call, Most people go straight to tech school after boot camp graduation, but I have heard of people who join the reserves or guard getting to go home before going to tech school. Sometimes they send you to the school but you have to wait a few weeks to actually start classes

Although I haven't been to boot camp since 1978 here's how it was then......my boot camp lasted 8-12 weeks. Because of the war...it might be shorter now. After a couple of weeks, you get Sundays off and during that time you can call family and friends. If you take stamps & stationary stuff you can write them until you can make a phone call. After the 2nd week, you always had Sundays off to do laundry, go to church, commissary, etc. There was no internet (let alone cable t.v. or punch button phones) back then so I'm not sure about the whole internet thing. Depending on your MOS depends on when you can leave...usually within 48-72 hours. If you are doing your MOS training on the base...you might be there a while longer, usually 4-5 days. You are also given a couple of day to get to your next post.

Army boot camp is 9 weeks. You will be allowed to call friends and family based on how well you, and your company are progressing through training.
Depending on your MOS you may, or may not have ANY time off between Basic and AIT. Also, if you choose a "split-ops" option, then you can goto boot during summer vacation from High School, and then go to Job training the next summer.
Contact a recruiter in your area for more information, they will try to get you to join right away, but just take your time and explore your options.

Marine Corps boot camp is 3 months long they are not allowed to call, get online or have visitors. The only communication they have is by letters. After graduation they usually have 10 days of leave and then they go on for more training. During this training they are allowed to call home, get online etc. Also, they have freedom on the weekends where family can visit, but ONLY the training after boot camp NOT at boot camp.

Boot camp is what the Navy and Marines call basic training so we will confine our answer to what typically happens in these services. Boot camp is twelve to thirteen weeks long, provided your training isn't disrupted by illness, injury, or incompetence.
The Marines are probably stricter than the Navy regarding personal freedoms such as calling home. Recruits do not have access to computers, so that answers your on line question.
In most cases, following graduation from boot camp, new Marines and sailors move on to advanced and/or MOS training. Following this training, and before they are shipped overseas, they get leave !

Boot camp means Marines. Basic training means one of the other 3.
It's 13 weeks long. One week for processing and 12 weeks of actual training.
There are no calls. There's no getting online. You can come for graduation and see your Marine for a short period of time on the Friday before graduation.
Like another poster already said, you get about 10 days off, then you to go MCT (Marine Combat Training) for a month.
If you're not talking about the Marines, then none of this info will be accurate.

I think it is different lengths for each branch. Air Force basic training was about 6 1/2 weeks when I went through. I'm not sure if it still is. We were allowed to call home about once a week and we had a few minutes to write letters each night before lights out. We had no Internet access. As far as I know, only some of the Guard members went back home before continuing their training.Don't expect to be able to do that.

Many years have passed since my Basic Training in 1960, but plan on two months of it. I imagine after the first two weeks the recruits may call home at their expense. I don't know about on-line communications because it didn't exist when I went to Basic Training.
Most recruits, upon graduation, will take some leave time at home before they report for AIT (Advanced Individual Training) at another installation. The leave time may be for only two weeks.

Boot camp times vary depending on you MOS (Military occupational specialty). For instance, if you are going to be a Army Ranger, you will be there for a while ( 6-8 months) as for a medic, (4-6 months). You are allowed to call family freinds once a week during free time (which is rare) but you can get all the mail you want.
