My friend and I are attending a reform synagogue Shabat service for a college comparative religion assignment tomorrow morning. We forgot to call ahead to find out what the dress code is. Should we dress up in slacks or are dresses only allowed. We dress modestly anyways, just not sure how dressed up we should be. Thanks in advance!

Modest, "Dress casual" attire is probably always a safe bet when you're trying to be a good visitor to anyone's house of worship, unless you're going to a deep south "Sunday best" or a Mormon church. Even some mormon churches can be kind of casual.

Reform should be okay with slacks.

You can wear whatever you choose. The attire should be elegant/dressy.
