I'm on an anti-depressant called nortriptyline. It can cause heat-stroke if I become over-heated. I live in a hot environment, and I don't have a fan or air-conditioning. Am I at risk?

Anti-depression medication is not something to play with. There are so many factors that could influence your body apart from hot environment like: Your state of mind, stress level, work and home situations etc. The best thing to do is to speak with your Psychiatrist and not only to your MD. But make work of it immediately please.

If you live in a state where the summertime temperatures can climb to 90 or higher for days at a time, then you are at risk. You could try investing in a room fan, or portable a/c. You also need to make sure that you limit your physical activity during the hottest part of the day, and that you drink plenty of water. Use sensible precautions and you should be able to live with few restrictions on your lifestyle.

Also you can call your pharmacist. Most people don't realize how important part of a medical team a pharmacist is.
