Its the shape of thing to come. You would think the turn signals on a car or truck are very important. But to most the cup of coffee or talking on a cell phone means more to them than yours or there safety. These people will pay the price of major car damage and loss of life. When all they really need to do is use a small amount of common sence while driveing.

Actually, many people do use them. One common use occurs when you are waiting for an oncoming car to pass in order to make a left turn (for which you are signalling). The oncoming car, if they are going to turn on their left turn signal, they will often indicate this to you well ahead of time by initiating a left turn. This way, you are not surprised when it happens. Another common use occurs when a car is far behind the car in front of it and there is plenty of room, say, for someone else to move into that lane from another lane. When this happens, a car in the next lane will often turn on it's turn signal, which alerts the driver behind him in the next lane that he should rapidly accelerate and get very close to the car in front of him. I'm not sure the actual meaning of this. It may be some sort of evolutionary adaptation. You know, people need to be close to other people, and if they are not, they need to be told to get closer. One of the best known examples of the use of the turn signal is among our senior population, which, I believe are required by law to indicate their intention not to change lanes by using the turn signal. There are, of course, certain categories of cars in which the turn signal lights are purely decorative or vestigial and are no longer used. These include the Lincoln Navigator and the Cadillac Escalade, among others. Somehow, during evolution, there was an increase in size to compensate for the loss of the organ, but it's not clear what this relationship is.

I hope this is helps straighten out the misconception, and I encourage you to always bring these questions here, because ignorance, really, is a terrible thing.

Good question. I think most people are either talking on a cell phone or in their own little world and don't have a clue as to what they are doing. OR.......maybe they think that all people are mind readers and know what they are thinking.
It seems like every year there are more and more RUDE drivers.

The driving skills you pick up when you are 15-16-17 are the skills you have for life. It's just the way they learned.
